8. Make a 404 page that redirects to your homepage – no point losing visitors

Not having 404 errors is probably much better than having them forwarded to your front page.

If you want to do that however, just make your 404 error page a php program and put this in there..

just replace the christopheravery.com with your website, and call the file 404.php .

Thank you Sharon, I was looking at the traffic for one of my sites and I couldn't believe I was losing some to 404 page. I'll add your tip to the site when I get home after work.

This works best if you can actually back up your argument. If you have a good argument then it really stirs up people who think differently who think you are wrong.

Look up Jason Calacanis and "SEO is Bullshit" and you'll see what I'm talking about.

 

Oh and there is one I forgot...

If you create a unique quality article - add some info to it on a relevant wikipedia page and refenernce your article (using the reference feature).

Sends good traffic and seems to have a very good effect onpushing up rankings.

Very nice tips. Goes over almost every common way to get traffic.

 

Rocking tips..
though am not too sure if forwarding typo domains of others would be a great idea ..
not just for trademark stuff.. but in general the whole image that you portray may not be conducive tot he growth of the website...

 

It may not be great traffic, but it is semi-targetted. Try getting people to stumble your site. It can mean huge jumps in traffic to your site.

The more fans you have, the better. Also, if your fans have many fans too.

Yes this is a good way to build traffic - in fact one of the easiest for people starting out.

Monetizing it is more of a challenge.
