boddog, there is no such thing or attribute as category in Froogle. If you want to define the type of your product, use the attribute "product_type"

You can see what standard product types are available here:
    http://base.google.co.uk/support/bin/answer.py?answer=66818&hl=en_GB

It is better not to create your own product types. Stick to what Google has created.

If you can get to the top among others selling the same stuff then you will get good quality free traffic and good conversions.

I just had an enquiry from a person who wanted me to promote his product in Froogle. I must note that it is very hard to gain high ranking with a single product.

What I usually do for my clients is picking 50 items from their product list and optimizing them. When we have some products on Froogle's first page, we start adding more. This is how it works...

However, I've once had a feed with 20 products optimized for the first page. Yet it is extreme and ideally you should look at 50 or more.

If you are selling something very niche with few variables (let's say 320GB Maxtor Harddrives) Google Product Feeds / Google Products will probably bring you some value.

    That's a pretty good result.

That's right. It is much easier to get a niche feed on top positions, but then, many people who are searching for niche products wouldn't probably go to Froogle just because they think Froogle won't have 'em :D

So, before you start optimizing your feed, check if you will have at least five shops to compete with. There's nothing better than a healthy competition!

It is their policy. And to be honest, I completely support it. Google wants to protect the visitors and make sure the results displayed are generated by REAL shops with real, tangible products, customer service etc. Good job, Google!

Is Froogle same with Google? I think when we use google we must place google(tm) or google(R)... :D
