65 Hits From Froogle Make 12 Sales

This is one of those brag posts where DPs boast about their achievements. However, this might be to your interest.

I just gathered my Froogle traffic stats for the previous 30 days. I have had 65 hits from Froogle. It sounds meagre until you find that these hits have resulted in 12 sales. A pretty good conversion rate for a free traffic source :D

Getting on top of the Froogle search results matters a lot. I am #2, #7 and #8 with my products in a specific niche and it really helps!

To my opinion, the time I spent optimizing my data feed was worthwhile. I'll keep working with Froogle in future. I got my feeds up all three regional versions USA, UK and DE. The best buyers come from UK ;) I hope the traffic would increase.

I've been getting some quality traffic from google base, but it all comes from the "one box" that pops up at the top of main search results page. Unfortunately things have dropped off lately because Target, Montgomery Ward, JC Penny, and other large retailers are getting all the prime positions. I don't know how Google determines what position the products are displayed in, but I'm wondering if the PR of the website in the product's url has anything to do with it. (Which means a product at Target will always be highter than the same product at mysite.com.)

Anyone have any insight as to how Google ranks the product search results?

Absolutely not. PR has nothing to do with it. The guy I recently consulted about improving his rankings with Product Search, had just recently launched his store and his PR was n/a which is even worse than 0. Nevertheless, he has a product within Top10 inside his niche.

I rank very well in froogle, I have between 2 and 4 products in the top ten for my niche keyword and I just launched my website. I think it mostly has to do with the information you give them in the datasheet. I don't get very good conversion rates though.

At least in our industry froogle is a total waste of time and effort. Chiefly because Google doesn't seem to care if anyone follows the rules. Companies submit multiple feeds under different names (everything is identical), others stuff certain keywords into products that just appear in Froogle to gain all three spots, it's a joke and getting worse. I think what is most damaging is the never ending fake prices, the link says one thing and the landing page is often way different.

I've actually seen complaints posted directly on google's help forum from registered users and nothing gets done. It really is a product I think they don't care much about at this stage.

Funny, Froogle is still in Beta Test but, with MSN coming up with a similar product, it seems almost certain Google is doing something about Product Search as we speak here. She doesn't want to miss out on a sector this big. So keep posting your feeds and keep testing. For middle sized/middle priced shops Froogle is a small goldmine.

I had some keywords pull up the first 3 results that are listed in normal google searches but for the products. When that has happened I have had excellent sales. The problem I have is making it stick at all.

it's about 5.42% per sale for every hit, not bad for you, mate...

Keep up the good work and I'm sure you will be gained more. :)

To be honest, I don't think you can. The only way to insert products into Google base is to upload them manually through Google interface or put them on FTP (Google will give you address) but then ftp makes sense only if you got loads of products.

You cannot just automatically upload stuff onto Google. They would be crazy to allow that. Imagine the level of spam such uploads would generate. So, keep reading the Google's own help section and upload your product list as a nice comma separated document which is both easy for you to create and easy for Google to process.

You need to resubmit the products on monthly basis and it only takes a couple of minutes to do. So, don't waste your time.
