Hello guys, I will get to the point without further ado. We are an amateur ice hockey team from Koroska, a region in Slovenia, Europe, and need a logo. We come from a valley which has a long history of steel making and mining. It is a remote place even by Slovenian standards but we are proud of that. We are proud of our region, our people and our heritage. Therefore, the logo should (but not by all means though! see below) include the following key features: #1 Mountains or hills - because we come from a fairly mountainous region (see: http://www.google.com/images?q=peca...&source=og&sa=N&hl=sl&tab=wi&biw=1280&bih=580 and http://www.google.com/images?q=uršl...&source=og&sa=N&hl=sl&tab=wi&biw=1280&bih=580) #2 The name of our ice hockey club - Hokejski klub Fužinar Ravne. We are aware that it is very long, maybe too long for the logo. Therefore, we suggest that you abbreviate it to HK Fužinar or HK Fužinar Ravne. #3 The logo of the local Steelworks (found here: http://www.sij.si/_files/31/ravne.jpg) in some sort of form (without the text "RAVNE" and in some sort of stylized way since it's copyrighted). Why this logo? Because it is THE symbol of the working class of our region and stands for endurance, quality, power, resilience and an everlasting fighting spirit! It can be altered though. Also, the word "Fužinar" from our club name roughly translates as ironworker. #4 Since we are a hockey club some sort of a simbol of the game should be incorporated too (hockey stick, puck ...). Everything from the list above is not obligatorythough, especially #3- if you cannot incorporate all, or even if you have a totally different idea it's welcome as long as it is good (and we like it ). The main club colour is red, which will also be our jersey colour. The two other colours are white and black (like the New Jersey Devils in the NHL). The logo must also look good in black and white, because it will be used in all of the club formal documents et cetera. As I mentioned before, we are a group of amateur ice hockey players, coming from a remote hilly region in the north of Slovenia. Our logo should reflect this in a abstract way but also be recognisable at first glance. The contest ends on 25.12.2010 at 24:00. The winner will be announced the next day. The winner of the contest will be payed through moneybookers or paypal beforehand. This would be it from our side, the ball is in your court now. If you have any questions, please let me know. Cheers p.s. As you will probably check out my profile -> I don't have any trade points yet, but I contacted the winner of a contest I held before, (thread opened by a friend of mine, degy, the 100$ logo contest) who got payed and he said, he will leave a reply on my profile ASAP. The second one you will find (billiard club logo) was opened by me for an acquaintance, and went fubar, but that has nothing to do with me though, since it wasn't actually my contest.
Hi! Thanks for your entries. If possible (unless you have a realy unique idea and don't want to share it with others) please post your entries here instead, because some of the guys from the team are also watching the thread. Thanks! About jtoms and BlueCubes entries ... @jtoms I like it! Think would be nice in B&W also. Except, I don't know if it really goes with our team colors... Try another color combination! I posted our team colors in the post above. @BlueCube Nice! I really like the "shield" aroundthe logo. We're just wondering ... What's under the puck? Try to make that area of the logo a bit bigger (the mountains seem to be overwhelming at the moment) and show us what's hiding under there p.s. if it is of any help, we had a sketch for a logo (just one possible idea!) where we used the steelworks logo (http://www.sij.si/_files/31/ravne.jpg), a bit rotated and stylized, as a head for a hockey player. Although it is supposed to represent a steel forge, it actually resembles a knight's head (don't you think?)... Maybe someone could try something like that thanks for now! Keep them coming
Ok, got another submission from TJB10 and a revisioned one from jtoms. @TJB10 - I really like the idea, a bit less the execution. Maybe you could make the mountains bigger, more ... epic? can't find the right word... Bottom line - make them bigger. And the welding mask stands out a bit ... Try to do something with it in the manner I mentioned above -> "we used the steelworks logo (http://www.sij.si/_files/31/ravne.jpg), a bit rotated and stylized, as a head for a hockey player. Although it is supposed to represent a steel forge, it actually resembles a knight's head (don't you think?)..." And the sign "HK FUZINAR RAVNE" should actually read "HK FUŽINAR RAVNE". The difference is the letter Ž, a slavic language letter (notice the ˇ above it). Trivia - it is spelled as "zh". @jtoms - Yes, this is really good. One of the guys had a remark abou the goalie helmet though.. Could you implement a different one (maybe even a stylized version of this -> http://www.sij.si/_files/31/ravne.jpg) ? tnx
thanks. maybe it can help if what is this thing? http://www.sij.si/_files/31/ravne.jpg.. at least i can understand what i design and maybe can enhance it more..
I asked around a bit to find out the english equivalent It's called an "electric arc furnace", this is a scheme of it -> http://www.tatasteeleurope.com/file...ation/PictureGallery/ElectricArcFurnace3D.jpg . It is used to melt iron and with different additions to produce molten steel. But like I said above, in the form of the local steelworks logo, it's actually quite similar to a knight's (hockey player's?) head, I think
Hi! I'm really sorry for my delayed reply - you know, holidays ad stuff ... I didn't have access to the computer before... Hope your holidays were fine also I will now take a look at all entries, have a talk with the teammates and let you know if any final revisions are to be made before we announce the winner. This will be, hopefully, done untill the end of this day (it's 4 PM in my country atm).
I'm really sorry, but for now I haven't got any replies from the mails I sent to the team. I will post here in the morning whatever reaction I'll get 'till tomorrow (it's 11 pm here in Slovenia, so that's in about 10 hours) and then the next step is choosing a winner. 'till then, cheerio
We decided to talk things over a beer or two, that's tomorrow, because we couldn't make a final decision over the internet (everyone thinks differently). So, the final results will be announced on wednesday 29.12.. Thanks for your patience. p.s. if anyone wants to participate with a late entry, feel free to do so, but you only have time for another 12 hours ...
So, after a long discussion we decided to go with jtoms first entry. Congratulations. It was a tough call, everybody had their own favorites, but that's now the final decision. Thanks also to all the other participants. @jtoms - Please contact me on PM, for further instructions (there's one small modification, we would like to implement -if you'll be willing).
