Alaska's Kenai River yielded this 62-pounder. Our summer camping has been great. We have another few weeks left, then I'm looking foward to getting back into the forum daily. Until then, internet access is spotty. Best wishes to all DPers.

We were using a big glob of salmon eggs behind a Spin-N-Glo fished near the bottom of the river, where the kings lie.

My friend caught a 52-pounder, and my wife lost a good one, too.

The Kenai River is world-class salmon fishing. I recommend a guided trip for any that might ever consider it. Without the knowledge of the river, the tides, etc., there is little hope to succeed.

Man look at the size of that! Is it on steriods or something?

What was the fight like? Longest I spent bringing in a Salmon was over an hour and it wasnt anywhere near the size of that monster!!

It probably took 20 minutes to boat her (a female). Because the Kenai River is glacial water, it has a bluish tint to the water that allows you to use fairly heavy tackle without scaring the fish. Also, there are hundreds of boats out there, so you need to get your fish in expeditiously so as not to keep others from fishing.

It sounds to be a great spot. Hopefully someday when I get back over that side of the pond I can get a chance to do some fishing in Alaska, I always hear great things about it.
