    Hi,

I'm looking to avoid bad surprises. Phone support at a major hosting company (1and1) just told me there is (with ALL domains and companies) a 60 day period before a new domain can be transfered.

Can someone with experience please verify this??

    Thanks

Do you know if ICANN always charges a fee for change of ownership, or can a domain be sold with no extra fees? (I thought people here talk about 'free pushes' at Godaddy, meaning change of ownership)

Is the ownership transfer really free after 60 days?

"60 days is intra registrar moves not whois updates"

Source: Both another 'major' forum and Godaddy's phone support. You can buy a domain today (at least at godaddy) and sell it 'tomorrow' (to another gd customer).

If anyone has a reason or experience to say otherwise, please, 'speak up today'.

    Thanks.

Pushes and change of registrar are 2 different things.
Some domain registrars allow internal (user to user) free pushes. Some charge. (godaddy, namecheap, enom etc are free)
When you mix a domain registrar and hosting co, its a whole other story, you have to move the domain to a new registrar.

Change of registrar is moving from say godaddy to namecheap or namecheap to enom etc. means the place of domain management changes place.

There are numerous complaints about sites like 1and1 and similar. Read up on this forum and the like about that.
