My site was in both directories before I became an editor at Dmoz. It has since dropped out of Yahoo when they asked for a rather large sum to keep it there (LOL... no, this was not extortion, it was free when I got there, they charge now, their call). At the time Yahoo drove more direct traffic. Yahoo Pros I suspect it still does, though I don't know. Yahoo IS better known, The fact that Yahoo is pay-for-review means there are typically less sites competing for the guy looking at it. If it *didn't* yield better traffic it would defy logic. That's where you get what you pay for... if you submit to them you should get better traffic and you can depend on them to review it in a timely manner. Isn't exactly a fair call when some get the idea somehow odp ought to perform exactly like yahoo yet be a free service. You get what you pay for. Yahoo Cons That said, as someone that spends a lot of time looking in Regional... Yahoo is poorly developed. I mean the number of cities. They list the larger ones and ignore the smaller ones in a ton of cases. If you are moving to a metro area you'll find the big cities listed but not the smaller ones in many cases. Good for the guys in the big city cat, too bad for the biz owner in the suburb nearby where people really live. Mixed blessing of Yahoo's mediocrity. LOL. All IMO... ymmv. ~ Rob added: LOL... I said 'you get what you pay for'... setting my timer to see how long it takes for someone to suggest I'm looking for money for odp inclusion.
