One news commentator mentioned that he has never before heard of Muslims praying like that at an airport. They weren't "just praying." After Arizona overwhelmingly voted for propositions against illegal immigrants (no more grants, sholarships, financial aid. no more punitive damages) I have a lot more faith in our population when it comes to dealing with assholes. Just like the marches set up to try to show Arizona how many illegals there are, more stunts like this equals more restrictions against them. Most people are not fooled by the whole "it was just a prayer" line. And CAIR and the Muslims using it just makes them out to be even more suspicious. One of our local news stations put up some silly graphic trying to educate us about Islam. They fail to realize people get educated about Islam every time there's a story about terrorist attacks around the world. Until those stop, graphics aren't going to help.
Someone left me a question with a neutral PR I don't know why of all the terrorists in the world the majority are Muslims. Maybe if more Muslims would call CAIR and tell them to condem terrorist actions instead of making excuses for them, Muslim extremists would feel a lot less support and stop making the murder of innocent civilians their top priority.
AGS is calling for respecting a religion?!? was there a change of heart or just showing your true colors?
Yeah WTF If they want to congregate together then let them do that in a controlled relaxed environment Guantanamo Bay detention center Thinking about that its perfect they can all pray together there WTF that is a perfect solution Planes are for travellers Detention Centers are for Muslims to pray -------------------------------------------------------- At a small terminal in the Texas Panhandle, three strangers are awaiting their shuttle flight. One is a Native American passing through from Oklahoma. Another, a local ranch hand on his way to Ft. Worth for a stock show. The third passenger is an Arab student, newly arrived at the Texas oil patch from the Middle East. To pass the time they strike up a conversation on recent events, and the discussion drifts to their diverse cultures. Soon the Westerner learns that the Arab is a devout Muslim. The conversation falls into an uneasy lull. The cowpoke leans back in his chair, crosses his boots on magazine table, tips his big sweat-stained hat forward over his face. The wind outside blows tumbleweeds and the old windsock flaps, but no plane comes. Finally, the Native American clears his throat and softly, speaks: "Once my people were many, now we are few." The Muslim raises an eyebrow and leans forward, "Once my people were few," he sneers, "and now we are many. Why do you suppose that is?" The Texan shifts the toothpick to one side of his mouth and from the darkness beneath his Stetson says, "That's 'Cause we ain't played Cowboys and Muslims yet." -------------------------------------------------
All they're doing now is pissing off more people. So I say, let them keep yapping. The more they yap the more vigilant people will be and the safer we all are.
They did not group together on the plane and pray. Its funny how facts seem to get ignored with this type of story. They were kicked off the plane due to irrational fear and prejudice. Its a sad situation. Lesson of the Day: If you cant cope with seeing people that are different then you should just stay at home and watch Fox News.
The request for a seat belt extension is irrelivant. Ive changed seats, gone to the toilet 5 times, asked for more peanuts, took off my shoes, lied down across 3 seats. Millions of strange things are done on airplanes every year. How many people get suspected of being a terrorist? You are more likely to be struck by an object from space than be victim of a terrorist attack. Those guys were kicked off the plane due to irrational fear and prejudice.
They were being weird and acting strange. They weren't sitting together and yet kept congregating together. The asked for seat belt extensions and then just put them under the seat. What would you think they wanted them for? As soon as you can go back in a time machine and change the fact that virtually all terrorist acts are carried out by Muslims, I'll agree that it's irrational to worry when Muslims act weird.
So!...lol Many moons ago they rejected a 'paintball club' of mine, in high school....out of irrational fear (really). But you didn't see me pissing and moaning on TV; even though many schools have 'rifle clubs'. The media overemphasizes little things like this. I could give a rats ass about this situation.
Is it a necessity to pray? And that too in airport? And that too in another nation? And that too in a nation where someone resembling you caused a terrorist attack?
From http://www.littlegreenfootballs.com Omar Shahin was one of the Muslims yanked from the plane. Maybe since he's getting so much media attention maybe next time he'll get kicked off just for showing up. I think most people would want a terrorist supporter on their plane just like they'd want a child predator near their school.
IF a camera crew follwed you around after the incident you would be pissing and moaning on TV. I'm not saying what happened is a significant event in any way at all. What is significant is the way people react to such an event. As long as people recognise that it was fear and prejudice in action rather than 'protecting the freedom'.
America is a free country. Is it a necessity to ban praying in airports? Is it a necessity to look like a typical american whilst in an airport? Is it rational to think someone is a terrorists just because of something you saw on the news?
Is it a necessity to ban prayer in schools? It's been done. Is it a necessity to ban prayer at graduation commencemtnts? It's been done. Is it a necessity to ban nativity scenes in public places? It's been done. Is it a necessity to ban the showing of the Ten Commandments in public? It's been done. Is it a necessity to ban the display of a Cross in public places? It's been done. Is it a necessity for the schools to refer to "Christmas break" as winter break? It's been done.
