Hi Guys, I came to DP in Jan 09 by typing in "seo forums" and found DP. Ever since I love it. I got so interested and facinated into this money making online world that I thought I would give it a go. I even went ahead and bought 2 ebooks here on DP through the Buy & Sell section on how to make money. Yes one did work but it required time and hard work, so I decided that I wasn't going to get into "making money online" through hard work, instead I came across something called Adsense. I consider myself quite good at SEO now and I know game quite well now. So I thought I would target a key phrase to see how things go. So in Jan 09 I started a blog about employment and registered a domain name. I then started reading about wordpress plugins and installed all the one's that would benefit me, e.g. all in on seo etc. Then I began to write a few posts every day, but no ordinary post's because I knew SEO, so I did my keyword research before writing out anything. Once I had collected a few keywords which had around 1000 to 3000 searches a month using Google Keyword Tool, I would then starting writing the content and start using my SEO skills I had learnt e.g. onpage H1, H2 etc. After about 2 months of writing regular content and employment and jobs, I started to get about 30 to 40 unique hits every day and my traffic was 64% Search Engines and 32% from social sites and the rest from god know's where, this was all according to Google Analytics (really good stuff). Anyway after reading more about SEO I really start getting deep into it all, like link building, one way anchor text links, page rank, authority etc. I had start building links and start using the TITLE tag to target my biggest keyword and started to build quality links using my TITLE as anchor text. Before I knew it, I had around 70 to 90 UV's a day and this is when I started to use Adsense on my website, because I used to be on DP all day looking at the Adsense forums and learning from others. Anyway, I created my adsense account and off I went, obviously it was all a bit confusing but I used Google to pull me through everytime I got stuck, just simply type in your problem and someone has had it before! So we were into March now and I was earning about $0.30 using adsense per day, I was over the moon and constantly refreshing Adsense to see my earnings grow, it was a relief feeling that I was actually going the right direction for the last 3 months. After that, I knew what I had to do and I started doing more SEO, which meant more backlinkings and more keyword rich content, content that people would actually search for. Today is Wednesday 8th July 2009 It's been just over 6 months since I registered my domain name and started my blog and today I earn an average $8 to $9 a day, but because I'm in the UK Google gave me the chance to see my earnings in Sterling, so it's about £5 a day which is about £150 a month and some months £200. I also have made a lot more money through the blog using sponseredreview.com and selling ad space and links. The amount's I have made is in thousands of pound. Only recently I started to really believe in this make money online biz. Today: I rank 4th on Google for my desired term which has over 12 million websites competing for. And 1st on Google, Yahoo, MSN etc for a term which has over 2 million websites competing for. And many other terms too. This all happened over a 6 month period from January 09 to today. The best keyword I am proud of is: Job Vacancies And I rank 5th out fo 12,540,000 websites, not bad for a 6 month PR3 blog. The blog is jobvacanciesinlondon.co.uk and I only have a friend who posts a few words here and there for me. Moral of the story is, never give up try harder and you will see results, research and read about SEO properly, the more you know the more better you will get. And most importantly action, I had read about SEO and coudln't had nothing, but I didn't instead I actioned it and today the rewards are showing. Yes £200 a month is not much, but hey man that's like an extra £2400 a year and now there is no maintence involved, my blog just runs normal every day. I now run my own IT business and offer internet marketing services to 5 star hotels in London and various other clients. If anyone's interested in my services hit me up, but that's not the reason I started this thread. I'm just giving back to the community that helped me learn through all this, so if there's anything you should take from this, it's inspiration! PM for any questions you would like. As ever, Sunny
good job man! I came about this site in much the same way. I lurked for a while, then I signed up to join in the conversations. A wealth of excellent information for sure!
Thanks for sharing your inspiring hard work. What i have noticed about myself is whenever i start any new project then i give it up in between
Wow! That's amazing to pull off in 6 months. Congradulations ! That is inspiring! So you did alot of homework before even starting anything?
Great Job sunny. How many uniques are you getting a day now? And, how did you go about optimising your domain? I will have to agree there is a great weath of knowledge in here, and it's surprising how well adsense can work as a secondary income. I just finished my A levels at school, and having websites earning from adsense meant that for the past however many years - I haven't needed to work for anyone. And this is the precise reason I want to build up my online businesses. But yea, it's a great feeling looking back at your earnings and thinking how much you've earnt, with no real economic investment. Oh, and the conversion of adsense into pounds was the best idea they've come up yet =)
Much more inspirational than the other how i made $10,000 in 6 months. Thanks. How long did you spend on your site a day when developing it? I'm currently at the 50-60 uniques a day point so i can relate to this.
Very inspiring. Thank you. I needed it. It's my 2d month and I do not see too much progress yet. It'll come. I know it'll come.
I got some similar experience with you. The posts here sometimes always inspire me to keep go on. And now your post do it right the same for me. Thanks for your experience sharing.
This is great sharing of your experience and I would like to imitate your path to success.. Thanks for sharing JulieV
I had lot's of PM's asking me some very generic questions, so I thought I'de put them all here: Did you do any homework before starting out? Off course I did and I spent hours and hours every single day reading about SEO, because you have to know the facts and the myth's. I first started out by reading Brad's SEO report where he tries to sell SEO elite, that alone was the foundation of my SEO world. Many people give mis-leading information on the internet about SEO and there are ton's of blog's about it and not all of them are right, so pay attention to detail. I'm holding adsense account couple of years now. but not even able to make $30.00 in month from 3-5 websites/blogs. Could you guide me from where i need to start to improve ranking and build traffic etc? Well friend, the answer is in your question. Whatever you do, don't start by creating 2 or more blog's. Start 1 blog and stick to it, your first step should be to do some keyword research and gather a list of keywords that aren't too competitive, keyword research is the most vital part of your journey, because targetting the wrong keywords can be a waste of 2 to 3 months of your life! So do some keyword research first and don't look for keywords which have a high Adsense click, because they are all too competitive and when starting out new, you simply stand no chance to get ranked for them. Waste of time. Also what I have noticed is that Adsense pay's very little in clicks when traffic come's from social site's. My current site jobvacanciesinlondon.co.uk, has almost 95% traffic come's from search engines. Every post I did, I first did some keyword research because I wanted to target traffic that people would search for, therefore it only makes sense to find long tail keywords that people would search for and use onpage SEO. Job Vacancies is searched over 49,000 a month and has over 12 million websites competing for it. I rank 5th on Google for that keyword and I'm so proud of doing so. Now, I'm thinking about selling my blog to a bigger competitor like Totaljobs.com or Monster etc. The value of my blog is not in my Adsense earning's but in my rankings. Great Job sunny. How many uniques are you getting a day now? And, how did you go about optimising your domain? Yesterday I earned £5.67 and I get around 240 to 300 uniques a day and 95% of that all come's from search engines. I have read many SEO reports from experts out there who claim that domain name's don't need to have your keyword to rank well. Well in some cases that's true because you simply need 1000's of backlink's instead. But before I purchased a domain name I did a lot of keyword research and the first keyword I targetted was "Job vacancies in London", it get's searched around 1500 times a month and I knew that in the SEO world, surley it would help if I had my exact keyword phrase in my domain. At the time I had no clue that I was going to target the term "job vacancies". I then went ahead and bought that domain name and I started with only "Job Vacancies in London" in the TITLE tag. Once I had conquered that keyword in every SE and still do , I thought I'de give myself a bit more challenge, so I started to target "Job Vacancies". Today I out rank .gov, .edu and .ac websites. I hardly do anything to the website these day's and get a friend now and then to write something, I don't even bother with keyword research for my posts because I believe I've come to the climax of my blog. I do keep an eye on it's stat's using Analytics and because it's just a 6 month old blog, my traffic is actually increasing more as my blog ages. So in effect, it's working for it self now. I'm always experimenting with ad colours and placement's. My average CTR is around 15% and I haven't got smart priced because I believe Adsense like's organic traffic and my site make's up 95% of it. There were time's when I did get $0.07 per click, but that didn't last too long. Adsense is a good source to making money but from my point of view, it's not something I would become dependent on. I yet have to experiment with affiliates and CPA. Sunny
Thanks for your success.I am start soon my own wordpress blog. I am woking for it. I will back in 6 month.
