out of boredom I decided to check our site's pagerank and my firefox toolbar says the forum is PR1, so I went to the main site immediately and looked at the google toolbar - and it says it's PR3! I checked it on mypagerank.net and it says the same. what should I do to keep the site on that rank or make it higher? we only have about 100-150 visitors per day and yet we get that rank
that's so cool! congratulations to you too! I would also like to make a correction, it's 5 months and a half. haha
That's great, but don't get sucked into the whole PR thing. Try guaging your success on the increase in traffic or your ranking in the serps..
PR has no connection with the volume of visitors that you're receiving. Even you have less PR you can have good SERP and get lot of traffic depending on how you optimized your site.
Same as mine. what should I do to keep the site on that rank or make it higher? Get more natural quality link or votes for your site.
SERP = Search Engine Result Page. Yes, PR is based on backlinks. The more and the better the backlinks are - the higher PR you will get. Your position in the SERPS is not influenced much by your PR, so a PR2-3 site can easily position better than a PR5-6 site. So the point is: if you want to become succesfull - focus on SERPS and not PR.
and focusing on SERPS means putting good keywords/niche right? thanks for all the info you mentioned above
My two-year old site is PR 2, but it ranks #1 for some great keywords that bring in 15,000+ visits per day. The bottom line, I don't give a crap about the PR. Don't focus on it. Focus on getting good search rankings. -boxer126
I'm really not surprised. Google Passed out PR3's like canday. Heck my DP profile is 2 months old only and is PR3,
6 months old site = PR3 now! very impressed I really hope you can achieve 12 months old site = PR6 in the future
Even my 5 month blogger site is already awarded with pr3. Here's the blogspot blog that Im talking about, www.friendlynet.blogspot.com
