the server may be up n running but not the sites hosted on them my site is still down and has been down for past 2 days now
Hostlatch is only here to make sure the server node is up (According to them, they are unmanaged i believe). For services like your server or dns on your VPS, it is your job to maintain it, a simple reboot on your VPS via HyperVm would work.
I just cancelled my account with Hostlatch. Site was down for 60 hours (unannounced) while they transferred data to another server. Then, they had the gall to send me an invoice for renewal while the server was down? Not worth the $6.
I would have to completely agree with you TheITGuy.. There are very good VPS providers that sell from $10 and they're quality accounts.
FSCKVPS are pretty good for unmanaged solutions. But HyperVM have caused them to have some downtime because of the exploit.. Looks like everything will be back to normal in 24-48 hours.
My requirements Cpanel managed BW 100-200 GB Space - anything Please let me know, if you know any reliable vps for cheap...
whats your budget? for a fully managed VPS from a reliable provider you need to spare atleast $30/mo. if you want anything more cheaper than look for semi-managed or unmanaged. as providing support costs more than the hardware itself
Remember that cPanel itself on a VPS costs $15/month. Factor in BW and space and you're talking about $30. That's completely unmanaged, support will cost extra. The VPS market is moving away from the budget area thanks to the HyperVM issue.
I'm not taking supplier discounts into account, that's the standard rate elsewhere. Most hosts can't afford to buy in bulk and therefore don't receive such discounts or are unable to pass on any savings to the consumer.
cPanel licenses are 8$ to $10 with MOST providers, if their prices is more then that, then you have reasons to stay away.
The standard price for a VPS CPanel license is actually $15. Any host selling it below that is losing money per license.
