6 datacenters/6 positions

Is it normal for something to be in six different search positions on 6 different datacenters? I have a term that is on position 6, 8, 17, 18, 15, or 19 depending on the datacenter. Is this because of the weird update/dance or does this always happen during an update before it settles? Obviously, I'm hoping it settles on 6. :)

Are you using a tool to check these, or doing it manually?

Anyway, I don't think it's that unusual, with certain volatile keywords. So, it would depend on how aggressive your target market is.

I just signed up for your SEO Tool... it looks cool.

So are volatile keywords always different on datacenters because they're always shifting? There are about 16 million results for this one. I'm not used to being ranked for decent keywords. Google is up to something today with my keywords... I just hope it isn't a glitch.

Cool. Be patient waiting for stats, servers real busy from a lot more signups than I anticipated. It will notify you via email when your stats are updated, you don't have to hang around.

Google has to propagate updates along all the servers. They probably use slightly different algos on each datacenter as well. I would imagine the results of these differences would be exaggerated for very competitive terms.

You'll probably want to hear more opinions on that though, since I haven't analysed this specific topic to any real extent.

Thanks. I think I've finally come out of the sandbox. That's the only thing that could explain what happened this weekend.

    Cool.

It was good having a forum going, but it's for more work maintaining one, than I imagined. Maybe I'll bring one back, when I have more spare time.
