I used to burn my backups to DVD, but recently I've been looking for a good online backup solution - so I can have off-site file storage. Anyhow, I looked at all the major providers, and the best I've found is Xdrive - www.xdrive.com They provide the first 5GB absolutely free. If you don't need to backup your music, that may be all you ever need! You can download the app so it appears like another drive on your PC, and you can perform automated backups. Also, a Mac client and FTP uploading are in the works. This would be great for backing up your website(s) as well!
5 GB! i used Gmail before.. that would be a nice way to share music how is the download and upload speed?
ah ! thats cool I was searching for something of the same kind I used www.mediamax.com before will give this a try too ..
ohh this is good but if we kept our data as a backup what abt security of that data? is it secure to keep that data on another server?
With a company as big as AOL (that's who owns xdrive), they will take security very seriously, they won't want to risk any lawsuits
thanks for the info!! however, i tend to just buy new HDD's, and backup on at least two for good measure..
I did that as well, but what if you have a fire or something happens that completely destroys your PC? It doesn't matter how many hard drives you have then! Me too for the most part. But when I run my weekly backup, I generate a 1.5GB .bkf file on my PC, and a 900MB file on my Mac, so I can't really upload those to gmail
