56% CTR on an article site

Okay let me start out by saying I'm not worried about my account or anything like that because I know I haven't clicked my ads and I don't think anyone is click bombing me so nothing to worry about. I've owned a ton of sites in the past and my highest CTR has been a littler over 1%. I decided to try something new and make an article site. I found the numbers to be astonishing. I have 1 ad at the top of the site 1 in the middle of the article and one on the bottom. This week my average ctr is 30% with a high of 56%. I'm not sure if the ads are really relevant and the user clicks on them to do more reading on the topic or what. I must say though they seem to love to click on the ads. Does anyone else own an article site? If so are you seeing high numbers like I am?

Does each ad unit on the page create a seperate ad impression as far as Google figures it? Because if that's the case then with a 33% CTR on a page with three ad units, every visitor to the page is averaging one click. That seems a little odd to me.

All the ad units on the page = 1 impression per page load. The site is only getting like 100 impressions a day so I figure the people find the article via google read the article then clicks on the ads and leaves the site and don't return. It's not really that odd if you think about it.

Thanks for clearing that page impression thing up. I think you just have a very well optimized page. It would make sense if someone is interested in the topic of the article that they will bounce to a related site via the Adsense on the page.

If your site has that good of a click rate i wonder if adding a affiliate link for something that relates to it would make you more money than the ads.

I can see how you would get that high of a click rate with a article site with no other ads.

I have some affilate ads on some of the pages and they don't do all that great. They do get some clicks though.

Google will double check sites with above 10% ctr .. If you're respecting adsense TOS your account is safe otherwise say buh bye to your account ..

Google checks my account all the time I know they do they have told me,

I have been a publisher since 2004, so its been a long time,

I have had click attacks and all sorts over stuff the years, and many emails back and forth as well, like most serious publishers

I think the longer you have been a publisher the better you will get treated,

I know some will beg to differ, but thats just what I feel

That's understandable, I'm not worried at all. I've been with them for years and I've never broken the TOS that I know of.

I'm not sure where the line is, but Google does monitor sites getting unusually high CTR. I assume the higher the CTR, the more closely they will watch it and check for things like repeating IP addresses. I would think 10% would be a rather low line, as I've heard of many publishers who are getting near that figure with well-optimized sites.

    Was the article site info-gizmo?

I like the logo--cute--who did it?

All in all, a very clean, attractive, site layout.

I think the ads are too 'in your face', it works to increase CTR on some sites while decreasing CTR on others. Its abnormmaly high though.

I had always assume that greater than 1% would make google suspicious. But maybe my sites have always just sucked so much and only gotten 1%.

with 100 visitors, so high CTR seems to be not real... or strange. And it is difficult to explain. I would affraid that google could take it as some kind of misleading visitors (but don't know how).
