55 backlinks in 4 days!

Is it harmful to get 55 backlinks from a PR7 site?
I was not knowing that when I put a sig in my profile, all my previous posts would also be containing the sig link. So when I put the signature after my 55th post in a PR7 forum, I was having 55 sig links from that forum and I was just 4 days old on that forum! I just want to ask, whether this is harmful for me? Or what should I do now, to prevent any threat from Google or any danger to my sites?

    Thanks.

the main page of the forum may be PR7, but if you only been there 4 days your posts will be pr0 do don't worry about it.

So is it that the page on which our post and the anchor texts appear ONLY matters for the PR calculation?
I am afraid I never knew that. I thought the main site's PR is always taken into consideration for PR calculation. If what you are saying is true then, it's really difficult to do that. Almost impossible.

Don't get ahead of yourself, the forum might have been nofollow anyways :)

I dont see any reason why it should harm. Your backlinks will be pr0 even if forum is pr7.

If its not on the homepage, then I guess it wouldn't hurt, since those pages might have no pagerank.

Forum links are highly devalued in my opinion so a bunch of PR7 forum links won't matter either way.

This knowledge is really new to me. Thanks a lot. But I don't think those posts will get to PR1 or 2 in any near time. So how am I going to benefit from posting on forums and blogs in this manner?

there have been some people that swear by forum and blog posting despite the fact that the PR is minimal. You have to remember that the PR google displays is NOT always the true PR of that page. So test it out and see whats what.

The best thing with forums is to build a folowing. Make yourself look like the expert and then you can drive traffic to your site eventually. OR to a YouTube video that you made (by posting it as a cool video you just "found" or "made" and then have that vid drive the traffic to your site.)

I likewise don't see anything wrong of the number of backlinks you are receiving. I think you should be glad for receiving such number of backlinks from a single forum.. It's actually for the benefit of your site.. So don't worry about it.. :)

I really don't think 55 links within 4 days would be harmful. Personally I keep my linkbuilding under 100 links per day and have seen no adverse consequence.

Don't worry about it. I'm sure everyone in here has done over a 100 backlinks in one time or the other. Besides, if it would hurt your site - then ppl would be backlinking like crazy to their competitor's sites. Your ok - trust me.

There is no way getting links will hurt you, matt cutts stated that they are always very careful to make sure that site A cant hurt site B.

Imagine what would happen if your competitor was able to harm your site by buying or posting a bunch of links. Google can however discount the links from those sites.
