I've made some backend changes to the ad network...

    • There is no longer the "an-hl" signature for validating.
    • The validation signature is controlled on this end, so we can change it whenever we want without everyone needing to update their files.
    • Servers that are not caching the ads properly will get ads saying just that (Ads are not being cached properly on your end).
    • The caching system gets one new ad every 15 minutes and caches 400 ads (so the total timeframe is still the same... it was a 100 ad cache and once every 60 minutes).
    • The ad_network.php file does not need to be "hacked" to work with old versions of PHP now.

Basically it means that everyone is going to need to update their ad_network.php file with the new version (which you can get from the Setup Instructions). The ad_network_ads.txt file does not need to be flushed.

There of course will be some overlap time... so the old and the new ad_network.php file will work for a few weeks. But you should still update ASAP, because the old will stop working in a few weeks.

One other note... the Moveable Type implementation has been updated, so if you are running a Moveable Type blog, you will need to update your whole implementation.

Something else is broke. When you select the type of link it would normally show a example.

All examples are the text BANNER (not graphical banner or text link)

Yeah... I know about that one... it's cosmetic on the setup screen though. I'll get it fixed shortly.

I just updated the .php file to the new one. But when I look at my pages. I do not get any ads. All I get is Array|Array... instead of "ad"|"ad"...

I just tried flushing out my ad_network_ads.txt file but I still do not get any ads.

Did you update your ad_network.php file when it went to the ability to serve more than one ad per page? If not, you will need to also update how you are displaying the ads on your pages (in the setup instructions).

    Hi,

I have problems with validating my site ;/ the url is dzwonki . polifoniczne . org . The ads are on the right side under the "partner sites". Before the update my site validated ok.

Edit: Now my ads show "Your Ad Implimentation Is Broken"

Go ahead and try the validation now. As far as the message about it being broken, you will only get that if your server is not caching the ads properly in the ad_network_ads.txt file.

Update: I forgot people are going to have lots of requests to the ad server off the bat to initially fill up the ad_network_ads.txt file. Oops... my fault. It's also been fixed.

I uploaded the new ad_network.php and my ads were OK (didn't validate), then "Your Ad Implimentation Is Broken" showed.

10 min later: i didn't changed anything and i get the ads displayed.

After Validating i get "Ads not found on " but no page url ;/

Hmmm... I just flushed out my .txt file. Everything works okay for a while then then I get the error message. When I look at the .txt file, I see ads then errors and then ads again?

Well google indexed 2 000 more pages of my site. I always validate "by hand" when google adds more pages ;] is it against the rules ?

Yeah, don't do it for now... until there is an option for users to put in their own Google API key.
