Maybe its a pipe dream, but I'm hoping to make a $5,000 profit in my first month with a new project. I'm curious as to whether anyone here has any real tips for someone who doesn't mind spending $$$ as long as there is a big return on investment. This isn't the "I want tons of traffic for free" thread you're used to. I'm NOT looking for offers from people selling traffic, etc. I'm looking for personal recommendations on successful endeavors you've had in the past. That would be paid reviews, maybe direct advertising. Let me know your thoughts!
Advertising (adwords / link ads) is the best way to get traffic very quickly Check out what are doing your competitors and check out google with the relevant keywords in order to set up an advertising strategy
Well, in theory I don't have any direct competitors. Its been done to an extent (million dollar homepage and its thousands of clones) but I think it is very different. I'm just not sure google would be an effective way of doing this, because it seems like it would best work with a "buzz" or some sort of viral marketing. Thats why I had blogs in mind, but I'm open to any suggestions.
Have you already generated a buzz / viral marketing in order to make a $5,000 profit in your first month with a brand new project? This is tough and this is the reason why I suggested advertising (adwords / link ads) although link ads can be paid on various sites (blogs, sites, directories...) Do not forget about emailing too
The site is not even completed, I'm looking towards the future. I don't see why it wouldn't be doable, I've gotten close (well, half way) with something totally different about 4 months ago. I just don't see google ads generating a "buzz". I have had shitty results in the past (I blew through a $200 budget in a day when I bought the keyword "macworld" right before Macworld, and the traffic was straight garbage). I appreciate all the help but I don't think I'm going to do any emailing I hate spam more then anything else.
I would like you to try bum marketing coz it really has good results if the work is done by professionals. Hence I would like you to hire a freelancer for this and you can achieve success.
I do not say it is not doable (I did achieve this in my first months a few years ago), I'm not talking about google generating buzz and I'm not talking about spam Good luck anyway
Well I haven't made $5000 but I'm also planning to make more than that with my membership site I'm creating with my Business Partners. We are aiming for a million dollar launch. But if you want to make $5,000 a month your going to have to get your site out there. Maybe you could offer some free stuff to get them signed into your opt-in list. Then continue giving them new information that is helpful to get them to become successful. Then slowly introduce your website, build a relationship first though, that is really important. Also you could create some videos on youtube, videos are a good revenue for some free traffic. I specialise in attracting free organic traffic so I know these strategies work. Also do some article marketing and social bookmarking, these strategies are gold. I wish you good luck with your goal. -- Hamish
I think SEO works better than Adwords. It's better to look for long term assets rather than short burst cash.
Thanks for the suggestions thusfar. Anybody have experience advertising on the big name blogs like John Chow?
Adwords is a good option that's for sure Now if it converts great and the profit / sale is great that 5k is not a high target ....
Don't talk about it (because someone is bound to talk you out of it) just do it. If you can generate a buzz about it when you launch do what Alex Tew did and pay a respected public relations person $40,000 to market it for you... Yep, he may have made a $1,000,000 but it cost him $40k to market it... Viral marketing is a good way to pick up on a 'buzz' and take it to the tipping point... Funny/unique video clips etc... There's a lot of luck involved but if you truely believe you've got something unique do whatever it takes Good luck! Loo
"I blew through a $200 budget in a day when I bought the keyword "macworld" right before Macworld, and the traffic was straight garbage" And it will be for sure. You shoudn't use this for exactly this keyword unless you are Macworld, lol
I agree, you should look into a long term SEO campaign, I also think you should hire a campaign manager to help you with your project, you will save money by going with solid advise, you seem to need it in my opinion.
Um, you aren't going to get 5k visitors from a SEO campaign month 1, let alone make $5,000 profit. To make that kind of money I'd wager that you need to have $5-10k that you are willing to spend/lose to make that 5k profit. If you don't then you're probably out of luck. You can try to go the social route, but while there is a lot of traffic there, there isn't a ton of money. Good luck.
I think that the key idea behind what you need is trying as many things as possible, no actually, it is better to try 10 ideas. I do so and usually just one idea works and gets me return for all my investments. The technology (e.g. adsense, paid reviews, ebooks) is not so important in this case.
You need a buzz huh... -streak across the field of a nationally televised sporting event with your website painted on your body or holding a sign -do an infomercial -buy advertising in the form of a tattoo on someone's body -look for a live newscast and hold a sign with your website on it up behind the reporter What is that online casino, Golden Palace or Nugget? They always have some far-reaching scheme to attract attention to their site... You have to do something completely off the wall, even if it is bad, to get attention.
