I like to judge traffic volumes based off of the amount of "marketing" I have been doing for my site. In other words if you are busting your tail every day promoting your site then it is ok but not where you want to be yet. If you are only randomly promoting your site then this traffic is good. What I like to do is determine how much return I am getting per marketing attempt and work to improve that in the future. My point being don't focus so much on the overall number but instead on how they got there and whether or not you can improve your traffic stream by improving your marketing attempts. Whether it be better SEO to get organic, better titles and descriptions on ads, higher value articles and so on. In the long run if you focus on becoming better at marketing your site you will see a steady increase in your unique traffic. If you combine that with great content on your site then you will have the best of both worlds. Great new visitors and tons of regular visitors. Best of luck and I hope this is helpful.
Well, I havn't done much marketing at all. Though I run the blog with a partner and he may have done more than me.
You should know if it is targeted! Knowing your visitors is one of most important aspects of making money online! If you know who your visitors are, you know what you can sell them!
I havn't been doing the marketing, and also due to being in such early stages of devlopment I am not eager to learn about my visitor flow.
I have a quick question: How would you explain the idea that you have so many hits compared to visits? I assume "visits" are uniques, and hits possibly coming from traffic exchanges, or bots???
Proxy122 Why not learn about your visitors now, the sooner you know why they are at your website the sooner you can make their visit worth while (both for them and for your pocket book). Not knowing about your visitors is bad practice. hanleo46 Visits are unique visitors, hits are file request. One page could have 100 graphics on it, so one visit to one page could = 100 hits!
Thanks Danimal62 That makes sense,,,,,of course the uniques are the primary stat of intertest as far as a volume measurement then? What is the primary purpose of site....capture names, or conversion to sales
