50-URLs Network into a single-URL site

    .

During the last few months I’ve been working for a Costa Rica travel company in the re-design of their Internet presence, which was based on the integration of a 50-URLs network into a single-URL site.

A couple of days ago, all of the 301’s were submitted and the new site went live.

It was a team work, but I was in charge of the design of the information architecture, the navigational structure and the SEO compliance.

    The new site is:

    http://www.vacationcity.com/

The old site can be seen at:

Please let me know what you think about it.

    We welcome any constructive suggestion.

    Thank you.

It's a great site with loads of information! Having been to Costa Rica, I can say that your site really is a good resource for people thinking about planning a trip.

We did the first website for TangoMar waaaaaay back in 1995 and were able to nail down the entire keyword phrase "Costa Rica" in Yahoo (the only real player back then) for about $1500 per month - every search, top listing and the banner ad (which, back then, was getting a 12-15% click through rate).

The site was slightly slow to load on the home page, but that might not mean anything.

    Great job.

Thank you for your comments TopSpin.

We are working to improve the loading speed of the main page.

One of the problems is the time it takes to retrieve the data from the weather source. So, we are going to make a change and retrieve the info to a local file and serve it to the page locally.

I'd suggest more whitespace between columns. It feels very tight as it is now.

    hey there

    Are you monitoring webmaster tools.

I would have a look there and the effects of the 301's and see what happens and then take action

    Let us know,

    Dan

Nice site! The first link loaded very fast. The second one took much longer to load. But overall great job and your site is really informative.
