Well, I guess if I've gotten to 50 posts I'll be around for a while, so I thought I'd say hi. I'm the webmaster for an .edu site. I'm a certified ColdFusion developer (currently testing the beta of CF8/Scorpio). I've been a developer for the past 8 years or so; this is my second career after spending 15 years working in the entertainment production industry. I've developed hundreds of sites, written fully customized ecommerce apps, and I do some SEO on the side. Spent years doing affiliate marketing although I only participate in a few programs these days. In my spare time I hang out with my wife, 2 dogs (airedale & wheaton terriers), 2 cats (whatever) and horse(percheron). I play golf and I'm a pretty avid woodworker/maker (recent projects are electro-etching of brass and a failed sterling engine). I live in Syracuse, NY - my wife's family is from here, so this is where I ended up (after PA,NJ,NC,CT) and I still cannot get over the fact that we get 12 feet of snow per year (note there are no winter sports on my activity list). So...! I've found DP to be a great resource so far, gotten some helpful advice (and hopefully given some as well...). See ya' in the forums! ~Ross
you got cats, you ok with me. although the (whatever) thing almost cost you. anyways, this is a great place, I am fairly new too, but I love it here, I get sad when I have to work all day or something and can't get to a computer to log on to dp...I start jonsing bad
Welcome to DP! You worked in the entertainment industry and didn't live in LA or NYC? didn't think that was possible! My degree is in Media production, what sort of stuff did you do?
wldstf - I was production manager / technical director for touring shows - mostly broadway musicals, a few dance companies, and one magician. Spent about 12 years 'on the road' - been everywhere, twice. Yeah, yeah, the cats are ok...I'm allergic, though..and they always seem to find my open sweater drawers to sleep in.
Welcome aboard, Ross! Nice to have you here! I like your pets too! I have a cat, don't have dog yet but used to have before. I also like woodworking, bought some books and tools before but now, I really lack the precious time. Anyway, hope to read more posts from you! A developer do surely have a lot of insights to share! See you around!
man, being allergic to any animal would suck. I can imagine it would make it difficult to start to like them, if you had problems everytime you were around them. Just like a cat to get someone that is allergic to cats sweaters all furballed up...
catyack - I think the cats know, and that is why they choose to nest in my clothing. Little b&*trds timsdd - it's quite the popular hobby up here; there are hundreds of state and club maintained trails, and there are lodges accessible only by snowmobile. I get plenty of outdoors time snow blowing the drive way tyvm lol Thanks for all the great welcomes everyone; I'm glad to be around...
