50% of the ads are irrelevent

For a few months now i get irrelevent ads to a travel website i manage. I get ads related to travel but for an other city.

It wasn't like this 3-4 months ago. My website is very well SEOed, in a very tight niche.

This has to do with Google and not with the website. While i have changed the related option in my adsense account, it doesn't seem to have any impact.

So, in my book, Google change is not good. Not clever at all. If a website is (for example) about New York, why display ads for London ?

    Hey Google wake up !!!!!!!!

Reduce the units of ads or add more keyword

It is NOT the website, it is Google. Google is now displaying ads related to the users preferences or something. And can't be turned off.

I visit also a couple of other travel sites, same niche as mine, and i also see the same irrelevent ads. It is a global thing.

And affects my clicks also. What a crap.

Reducing the ads is something that can be done and works. Adding more keywords doesn't help in my case.

If this is global, there is probably nothing to do. You can always try to add more content and diversify your content on the same page. Use synonyms. Just add more stuff related to travel. May be you will have a wider range of ads matching related travel stuff.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

The point is that my travel site was running adsense for a year or so, displaying very-very relevent ads. I had NO problem. And clicks were also good.

Now, without having changed anything (i would say that content was tripled), Google is displaying ads about "China" for example. The change Google did is hurting the publishers and i think we should all stand out and say so.

I'm not sure if it's something that you can change at https://www.google.com/adsense/interest-ads-edit.
    I see the options are
    - Show ads based on user interest categories. Visitation information from my sites may be used to help create interest categories.
    - Do not show ads based on user interest categories. Visitation information from my sites will not be used to help create interest categories.

Yes i have turned this on or off several times. I think it doesn't work for YOUR website(s) but for other sites. I mean your website provides information for the user, and that info will be used for other sites. Not yours.

In any case no matter what i select in that, there is no change.

Go to your account area in adsense and turn off interest based advertising...it really is that simple.

LMAO I'm surprised you guys aren't aware of the actual problem, it has nothing to do with Google. First of all you should try refreshing the page to see if relevant ads don't show, and by now you should know AdSense depends on AdWords advertisers. So if there's no relevant ads showing that can only mean two things:

1 - There's currently no advertisers bidding on keywords related to your website.
2 - Advertisers blocked their ads from showing on your website because of poor results.

Your niche could be running dry, or your website doesn't convert for AdWords advertisers. It's as simple as that

Of cource it has to do with Google. The problem started when Google started this DART (or something) system.

Also the same irrelevent ads i see when i visit an other major (the N1 actually) website in the niche. So it seems that Google only takes into account 50-60% of the site niche and the rest displays ads related to the VISITOR needs or searches (i have no idea how this works).

If you search a bit, you will find all the information needed. Also there is NO way to bypass this.
