$50 LOGO design / + variations on a theme...

    Hi chaps...

Pressed for time on a SEO project -- but the client asked if anything could also be done about a logo redesign

Said client is a foreign languages school in Bulgaria called 'Alliance'. Spelling of the logo can either be in Latin as "Alliance" or in cyrilic (Алианс, АЛИАНС), but ultimately - both...

Other trivial facts that may be useful as inspiration:
    - their current website is on http://www.alliance-bg.com/, logo can be seen top left.
    - they teach languages to adults and children, daytime or evenings.
    - its a ltd. (еоод / EOOД in cyrlic).
    - est. 1929

The winning logo will be chosen on the basis of web AND print media suitability - so cleaner / vector type graphics or high res will probably be preferred. NO FLASH (URL is for illustration purposes). Certain deviations from the conservative / cleaned look within the web version for better suitability are acceptable (eg, gradient / opacity effect, drop shadows etc)

If you do develop the winning theme, there may be extra work in it for you in designing stationery - business cards, fax headed paper etc.

Deadline for posts to be considered: end of play CET - Friday, 23rd (5ish)
Payment via PayPal or BACS (UK)
Ability to pay in GBP as well.

    Thanks and good luck!

cool, thanks to the entries thus far.

just so you get an idea what the client is looking for - i had a chat and thus far, here is the feedback i have received:

speno's entry - the symbolism of the chat bubbles is a great idea, they are also very impressed with your logos portfolio - message me with a quote for doing some more variations if it falls outside the scope of this comp.
designerboy - very clean design and would look awesome on the metal signposting outside their building. Perhaps we can play a little with the way the "swoosh" is attached to the A (although that's not paramount at this juncture, typeface + idea are working well), top marks.
jonah - this probably wont work as typography as it looks too close to the logo of the Allianz bank: http://www.allianz.com/en/. the fact that the bank's central offices is about 2 mins away from the school does not help :) on the upside, you have tried adding the LTD and est. into it - there have been some mentions of that and the possible inclusion of a punch line to go with this...
thomas66: thanks for the ideas, but not exactly what they are looking for.

as a whole - feel free to NOT use any stars if you want to - it does not need to have a transitional connection with the old logo - incidentally, done in 1994 as a theme on 'alliance meaning union, languages opening doors to europe -> european union-like logo' or something silly like that. it has stuck--until now. for those across the pond, the EU flag is basically a bunch of stars in a circle :D

i hope this feedback helps and thanks again for your time.

    my thoughts exactly :)

also, thanks to dorapol for the multiple entries - although I personally feel as if throwing some text with Copperplate Gothic Bold with some banding and a swirly thingy for 5 mins does not really feel deserving of consideration - then again, I am not the one deciding...

designerboy: great, thanks for that - waiting for feedback from clients now.

incidentally i received another entry and it's only fair to post this - but i have to say the clients are NOT keen on any of these versions, largely due to colours and also - because they are trying too hard to be the old logo. NO NEED:

either way, the competition is announced to close on friday and so it shall. any entries submitted before then will be duly considered :) thanks once again

thanks for the revisions, these are nicer still -- will pass them on.

i get the impression i may not have been entirely clear on the type of logo they are after... you should approach this as if you are designing a logo for the BBC, BA or The British Council.

the "school" is state owned and run by the Ministry of Culture (not education) so it's got somewhat of a "different" status. in reality this means it needs to have appropriate, mature and traditional logo / branding. i am mentioning this because -- as nice as some of the entries have been -- it may be somewhat difficult to use them for anything but the website.

    thanks once more
