    Hi,

I need a logo FAST and will pay $50 paypal to the winner! Contest closes in 24 hours from now (timer). I have a list of requirements below. Don't worry, they are not as rigorous as they may look, there is a lot of artistic latitude you can use.

    • It needs to have the words "Empires" and "Conquered", in 2 rows ("Empires" above "Conquered").
    • This lettering should be done in a nice "chunky" or wide font. The more "cartoony" the better. The letters should have a nice thick black line surround.
    • The colour should be orange. If you can gradient it or something similar, even better. For shades of orange, use this as a rough reference: http://www.voidix.com/orange.html.
    • Around the words (enveloping the words from both sides), I want some kind of WW2 war theme illustrations. NOT photos, this must be illustrations. Vector art is preferred but not essential (e.g. you can draw freehand using a tablet if you want). So think of planes or soldiers or tanks or other units of war from that period. Only allies though, no Nazi themes whatsoever! If you think you can make these illustrations appear within the words or between the words and still make it look good then go for it, either way will do.
    • These illustrations should be cartoons or as close to cartoons as you can manage. Think "friendly".
    • Important: DO NOT use stock photography or art! This should be 100% original! I will be checking! If you need inspiration then look for military public domain photos.
    • I need .psd and .gif and .jpg. This is because I'm going to give the logo design to a web site designer to incorporate in headers, ecovers etc.
    • For this reason, the logo should have a width that is no greater than twice the height. (It needs to fit on an ecover, for example). So NOT long and thin. So long as the aspect ratio is 2:1 or less than I will be happy.
    • I hope with this $50 offer to get many entries. But if there is only one entry then I reserve the right to extend the contest by increments of further 24 hours until there are at least two valid, credible entries.
    • Please note that this logo will be for a fan website based on the new Zynga game called Emp1res and All1es. Do NOT copy any elements whatsoever from the original Zynga logo or trademarks. I do NOT want any confusion for the visitor into thinking that my site could be a Zynga site. It isn't.

OK, let the contest begin! The contest will end when the time is reached in 24 hours according to this countdown timer: here. I'll be checking in regularly in case anyone wants any feedback.

Hello bahrinc, thanks but there are some problems:

    - you misspelled the writing
    - you show a civil aviation plane. There is nothing above that looks military whatsoever
    - it's a bit basic, I'd expect better than that for $50.

I do like the colours of the text though. And the font is definitely acceptable, I have no problem with it.

Look forward to your revisions and to some other entries.

    Thanks

Please everyone read the feedback below to get an idea of what I am looking for. Thanks for the entries so far :)

Thanks for your entry, so far this is easily the best.

    I really like the lettering.

I like the aircraft but I must ask you, from where did you get the image you based this on? I find it hard to believe you drew that from scratch, including the cool shading and stuff. Can you please assuage my fears? Because I do not want to get sued over this. I need you to convince me if I am to consider your design.

The missile/bomb, I would prefer the location be changed. Right now it obscures the middle section of the "E" where it coincides exactly with a horizontal section. It would look better if it was moved slightly so that it doesn't exactly coincide with the sections of the lettering.

I wonder if it is possible to add anything else? Right now it's great, but if you can add one more military thing, that would be great! Maybe in the lower-right hand corner? Just a suggestion. Something simple like a classic cannon or a military helmet or a grenade.

Thanks for your effort. I'm afraid it is a little too simplistic. The lettering is actually quite pro although I don't particularly like the "crumbled" look. That's just my preference. I like your efforts to try something a little different though. The plane drawing is too much like a line drawing and too simplistic unfortunately. Thanks for your effort so far though, if you can come up with something better then I'd happily consider it.

Just a note to all, I don't really like the idea of a symmetrical plane on top of the words. I've only just realised this now that you have shown me. The problem with it is that a side on view is not very "dynamic". It's better to catch something in isometric (multiple sides e.g. coming from the left or right and slightly above or slightly below) view and not a view like on an engineering drawing (top, side, front etc.). Sometimes the side or front view works (the grenades are OK) but with the planes it, in my view, is clearly not working.

Something else to point out. The best design so far is black and orange, and many designs here are black and orange. But the entire design does not need to be black and orange so don't think you are limited to that. The lettering should be orange and should be black-outlined but apart from that I would love to see some colours!

Yes, the winning design so far is black and orange and looks very good but don't think that I am committed to black and orange or this style. I would very much like to see what you can do with colours too, by all means.

This looks great and a heavyweight contender for the win.

    My feedback:

    - right now, it's missing something. It doesn't look bold enough. It's like comparing a pencil sketch to a pen drawing, know what I mean? It doesn't need much doing, but it needs just a bit more emphasis.

    - the photo I assume is some PD photo? Please PM me the source so I can reverse image search and check it. Thanks

I do like the objects being a different colour but the grey is maybe a few shades too light? Think more like I would prefer to see something more black/silver as opposed to dull-grey. Think what a grenade really looks like. Maybe it needs shadowing, I'm not sure. Also, the grenade looks outside the logo, just sitting there. Some overlap like with the plane would be better.

The plane looks a strange angle. A plane is good but not this one. Still happy with the lettering you have chosen.

Thanks guys, keep them coming, new ones and improvements. Thanks! :)
