Great logos. You're the front runner :) - Hey guys, the logos shown here is what I'm looking for but if you have other ideas in mind instead of the book let me know. Even trying out different font styles.

    My submissions:

The two elements form the letter 'm' and the black bind (which looks like a dot) represents the dot of the letter 'i' for index.

Great logos :) I like mostly the 1st and 2nd one. Maybe the font could be changed for the text.

I am very sorry that you decided to withdraw from the contest. I would like to let you know that the other users used different book images and different designs and therefore I believe that they aren't doing anything which is unethical. I am sorry that you think about it that way.

I second that. This whole thread looked like 3 pages of the same logo. Get original guys. Everyone just kept revising sandee's concept.

Well, in my mind the reason why we took a book in our images was comment from webguy84:
Since he doesn't provide comprehensive feedback all we know is that he likes book concept. I draw a book myself and put some effort in the logo as well as you guys (great job!).

@sandeepramje: I know you are little angry but man...this is a contest so we read all comments. This is the only source from we know what CH likes or dislikes. If you are a man don't quit but show us your talent and draw really something special...

@webguy84: Little hint. Comments like "not good sorry", "intresting" or "Not what I have in mind" is to less to guess what you really have in mind or what you expect :)

    That's all from me...

    Hi,

In response to the two "S" designers/posters:

I have participated in other logo contests (via other forums) that are directory related sites. And one of the first things that comes to many designers' mind in terms of directory or resources is what? Books. Some CHs don't like the book concept and prefer something a little more abstract other CHs do like the book concept. So, either you stick with what the CH likes or come up with a whole new concept that you believe will make the designer change his mind about having a book concept logo.

Furthermore, my design I had done more than a month ago for three different contests having the same kind of website. But the CHs preferred a logo without a book or globe. One of them just didn't like "wired" globes as s/he put it. And they think the books and globes aren't original, rather cliche. But everyone is different.

I thought that I might be able to change their mind with my design, but it obviously wasn't designed in such a way to accomplish that goal; I would've been better off just sticking with what they liked. Which could've saved me time. Now, I've toned the design down from what I had originally, they may like it now =). Nonetheless, as far as, copying your idea that I was not able to view for some reason before I posted my design is ridiculous. These designs could be designs that other designers already had, was that ever a thought? But many designers just go with what the CH likes through the fb left if it's not already stated in the first post.

Why are you really withdrawing? Is it because your design has been out done by another designer? If so, don't quit because of the competition (if that's the reason) come up with something to top whomever. I don't know what your design looked like, but hey you know the CH likes the "book" concept that you are claiming you came up with first, so why not come up with another concept. I know I've got a few other concepts that do not incorporate the globe or book. I just wanted to see if he'd like a design I had already done prior, before creating whole new designs. We all have portfolios, well I do of several designs and they keep coming like rain falling from the sky.

    Keep on trucking =).

    And WebGuy84,

Thanks for the fb, would you like round fonts? What kind of fonts did you have in mind. Would you like something more abstract?

    Thanks,

    ProsPearEhT

It happens in all the contests. People read feedback and then design. It might look like concept theft but thats the risk everyone has to take.
    Nice designs guys.

    hey,

prospeareht -> Its not like that I dont have no any other concept but whats the result if other designer use same concept and instead of thinking some different they would again go with my concept.

sullmoney -> I think only you understand what I wanted to say.

tomeek -> Well you must see whose concept was this....this is not the concept given by CHs but it was mine....and you guys are just manipulating things.

Well i dont have to say much...i believe its not your faults....i think CHs (Webguy) must take some initiative regarding this matter like "this is sandeep's concept, its better someone else bring another good concept."

I dont think i will participate again with any of your(webguy) competition.

    Thanks
    Sandeep

    sandeepramje,

In response to your post. It's like someone I know said, it's really no one's concept except the one who founded the whole concept years and years and years ago. There's nothing new under the sun. Where did you get the idea to use a book for a directory/resource site? Have you heard that saying, "great minds think alike?" Well, believe it or not, that applies to graphics designers as well. Because it is so true. We all learn or come across the same info and make the exact same associations. And if you think about it what do you think many company's are doing?

Those that are in competition with one another have like products, like concepts, like, prices, etc. But are they complaining about who had what first and blaming people? No, because that is not important. What about the concept of using the company's initials and we know how many times we've seen countless number of logos on and offline adopting this same concept over and over again, now what? Why reinvent the wheel if you don't have to. Pick up and keep running. Blaming the CH will not solve anything and who's loss is it in the end? Well, you may have your pride and peace, so you may believe you won. And in that respect you have.

Back to the book concept, the ones who created the phone book (which is a directory/a book full of resources) maybe they have concept ownership rights. Maybe you are one of those people that say, "I'm the one that originated the whole concept and every company and designer is ripping my design." So, just because you claim to have come up with the "book" concept first in this contest (whether it was your own design or a ripped version of another) doesn't mean you didn't get the concept elsewhere. And I'm in no way saying you did because I don't know no more than you know why others posted their book design. And because you don't know, does it make sense to quit and lose respect for the other designers and CHs. Does that make you feel like you have accomplished something.

Before you go on claiming a concept as your own and first you might want to dig deeper into the truth before you start indirectly accusing others of ripping your design. Not every designer views the thread in its entirety before making a submission. Only after you do, does one cry wolf.

What's originality? Definitely not the concept of having a book for a directory/resource related company's logo. I think we all know that including you. If you design the book in such a way to make it your own, then maybe. And even still, the concept is not original...it is cliche.

It's not your concept. What is possibly yours is the design you created. And if you still believe that it is your concept, then it's my concept, too since I came up with it long time ago. I'm not serious, but you see how ridiculous that sounds. It's not my concept no more than it is any other designer's concept. That concept is as old as Earth if not older. There is nothing new under the sun.

    All questions are rhetorical.

That's all I have to say.

I am very sorry that you're thinking that the other designers stole "your" concept but as other members have said earlier the book concept has been existent much before the start of the competition. There are no rights for concepts. Another thing is that the other participants used different book images with various types of layouts. They came out with new ideas. I hope that you'll change your mind and decide to participate in this contest. :)
