$50 Logo Contest for Photo Retouching / Restoration Company (Min. $25 Guaranteed)

399Retouch, a company that does photo retouching (airbrushing) and restoration of damaged photos, is starting its 4th year of business and I think it's time to get a logo. (Later, we will be getting a whole new Web 2.0 website) The logo should be in .psd (Photoshop) format, a clean and simple Web 2.0 design, and should look good on a white background.

The official name of the company is 399Retouch LLC, but we rarely show the LLC part. When we do, it's in a small font. The LLC text should be on its own photoshop layer that can be shown or hidden.

There should be another layer with the words Photo Retouching, Photo Restoration that can be shown or hidden.

The 399 doesn't mean anything, but it is an important part of the brand.

We receives digital images that have a problem...acne on face, overweight person, distracting background, person frowning, deep shadows; or it receives a scan of an old creased, damaged snapshot; and then our retouching staff retouches / airbrushes / transforms / beautifies them so they look good / the people look good / the damage is repaired.

Quite a bit of the business comes from models and actors who need to improve some headshots of themselves. Other clients are recently married brides, online catalog companies, people wanting to fix old snapshots to print and give as gifts, and overworked professional photographers. People sending photos to online dating sites often have them retouched first.

In addition to the low prices, a distinctive part of the business is the personalized service that clients receive...they deal one-on-one with a real human who learns what they want their photo to look like, makes suggestions as appropriate, and gives them a firm price quote before beginning the work. As a result, a large majority of the clients are very pleased with the service they receive.

The company's current business card shows a pastel pink and blue butterfly (one of the standard graphics from VistaPrint, visible at http://preview.tinyurl.com/7svgfn ), but it is not necessary to continue with that theme.

The logo will normally be viewed in color on the website, but it should also work in grayscale for printed advertising. There should be a square or rectangular version, and also a banner version that could go across the top of a webpage.

Payment: The contest is expected to close in 4 days. If I decide to use the winning entry on the website or for any other company purpose, a payment of $50 US dollars by Paypal, or $40 by Western Union, will be made to the person submitting the best entry. (Western Union charges a substantial fee for money transfers, but some expert designers do not accept payments from Paypal, so they can be paid by Western Union if they want that.)

The Guarantee: If we decide to not use any of the submitted entries on the company website, a guaranteed fee of $25 by Paypal (or $15 by Western Union) will be paid to the person submitting the entry that I judge to be the best.

All rights to the chosen logo will transfer to the company when payment is made to the designer.

There are no color requirements, and the size is not specified. It will be the logo for the new improved website.

• Need a logo for 399Retouch, a company that retouches photographs.
• Need the logo in psd (Photoshop) format, with layers.
• Need one square or rectangular version, and one banner-shaped version.

Clarification: Text in the square or rectangular version should be bold enough to be readable even if the logo is only about 200 pixels wide.

Lady in Red: May not capture the essence of what we do (retouching and restoring photos), but they are attractive.

austin-G: Your dirty-eye idea is imaginative. I am afraid it will be hard for the general public to understand.

gfxpr0: I like your simple, clean designs and the slogan works perfectly for the photo restoration side of the business. We use the slogan "We make people look good" for the photo retouching side...we might combine the two slogans into "Making people look good, bringing life to old photos" and put that on your design. Very good!

TightWad: Very elegant design, my preference would be a smaller center 9 and a lighter color palate with blues, greens, yellows as well as browns and reds.

Lloydblogger: This is an attractive logo. The name of the company seems too well hidden for people to recognize it.

jokomamaita: These are nice designs, that would probably be better if they had no black border. I wish they could express better the type of business that the company does.

I also have received a submission via PM from thomas66, who says that he can't post active links in the forums.

This is a hard logo to design, to show how photos can be made to look better. I am glad there are so many imaginative, talented artists here, and I appreciate the work that you all have done on this project. Every entry is good. The contest closes in about 11 hours.

Jokomamamita: The newer logo looks good, but I do not think people will understand what the business does just by seeing the logo.

sikka2010: Your logo is also good, but it also does not suggest what 399Retouch does.

One thing to notice is that there is no space between 399 and Retouch...it is all one word.

Also, my preference is light, bright colors, not dark colors.
