Contest $50 Logo Contest for Machine-Manufacturing Company (5 Days)

    Hello All!

I'm starting a contest for a new professional logo for our machine-manufacturing company: STOK Engineering. You can find out more about the company in our new website: http://stok-engineering.com/wp/about-us/ (Please ignore the flower-like image in the original website; it was never used as a logo) The logo will be positioned at the top left in our website and will replace the sample logo: "Simple. Powerful Clean Theme". The website logo must be 61px tall and can be much longer (I think up to 350 px length seems fine) so keep that in mind. Please use color #4259b8 and include our full company name "STOK Engineering", but fresh ideas are always welcome, as long as the logo fits the design of the website. The logo should look professional, simple, clean, and distinguishable. The background should match the website background, but we would also like the logo to look well on a white background as well so that we can use it for a header in brochures and offers. (Different color versions are acceptable.)

We also require a square version of the logo (1:1 ratio) and prefer vector graphics for all.

Upon claiming the contest, a small flavicon (16x16 px icon for the website) that resembles the logo will be much appreciated from the winner, but please do not bother with a flavicon now.

Payment will be sent via Paypal to the winner, and the winner will be decided within 24 hours of the deadline (5 days from the start of this post).

    Thank you!

britel, and Agent-X - not something I'm looking for. I'd prefer something less heavy on imagery such as the head, the business guys, etc. , and if there's imagery, it should be more creative and abstract. Example:

    http://www.logoarena.com/contestimages/public_new/1768/thumb_2332_1357865123_12.png

Also make sure the colors fit together.

logodesign - nice entry, but we're looking for something more distinguishing.

Sabosushimi, something feels off, but I can't say exactly why.

    Thank you all!

Important update: required image height has been increased to 61px. Please plan to have the logo detail visible under such res even though a higher res vector is also required. I figured that my goals are incompatible (having a logo both flat and distinguishable doesn't quite work) so I played with the CSS sheet and made this size feasible.

    Also, please use color #4259b8.

Thank all for the additional entries! As of now, coolwanz is in the lead with a bit of color mod (white and blue to fit the dark background).

We also like friedbass' logo and spikesolo's. Perhaps you guys could make more versions of your logos?
TJB10, thank you for your entry, but this looks too simple, and is mostly just plain text. Nice glow and gloss effects, but we need something that looks well without those.
logodesign, thank you for your second entry, but still doesn't quite catch the eye and doesn't seem that I can't get if there's any meaning to the circle in the front.
frikusha, thank you too, but same as above, also doesn't quite catch the eye.

IMO - Designing for a template isn't a good thing. You can always style CSS with no worries. Get a logo that works for the company, then style accordingly.

What will do best for them as a whole? Print, web, etc.

I could easily take most of the logos here and make them work in your current template with a few mods, etc.. Just an opinion as stated, did I mention I have a lot of those!. ;)

Thanks for the updates and thorough comments!!

    Regards,
    friedbass.

friedbass, thank you for your comment - it is much appreciated! I agree with you: I'm trying to find something that looks well on everything, but mostly on the new website as it would be our primary marketing tool. However, a great logo would also look well on print and could be transferable to new marketing media. We also plan to laser-cut the new logo out of stainless steel for plaques that we put on new machines.

    off-topic:
I spent a lot of time picking a theme and working on it, and, as you mentioned, fitting a logo to a theme isn't so difficult, especially when the logo is great. I also spent some time today playing with the website's CSS to see how it would look with bright header and footer, but I didn't like it. I want to have a visible logo, but this template initially didn't allow for one taller than 41px so I raised the height of the header a bit, and also reduced the top-bottom margins around the logo to add the extra 20px. I think that is as far as as modifications can go. A nice logo wouldn't have tiny text that is not readable on a 61px-tall image, which is why I kept this in here as a guideline, even though it is probably redundant since a great logo would not have such issues. Anyways, I think I've gone quite off-topic and we can continue to discuss this in private or in the website review section when the website is closer to completion. Thanks again for your comment!
    /end of off-topic

To future entries: I encourage creativity, but if there's a need for significant modifications to the website to match your logo design, please have an idea about how we could do those, and preferably show those modifications together with the logo.
