What if they were never indexed? The thread on webmasterworld is pathetic. The poster doesn't list the source of directories they are using, whether the directories have been indexed before or not, or any other factual information that can be analysed. You really shouldn't believe everything you read, especially from nobody's on SEO forums screaming "FIRE!, FIRE!". The fact that Barry Schwartz went to the trouble of posting on SERoundtable and Search Engine Land, really surprises me, because even he admits there's no actual facts or data or anything. Already someone else has tested directories and the figure has dropped from 50% to 16%. What directories is he looking at? The 100 directories I looked at, all with quality indicators, are all indexed. So I see 0% deindexation. How about that as a converse fact? *shaking my head right now* quality versus quantity. ALWAYS!
This guy provide list http://searchnewscentral.com/20120515299/Latest/google-de-indexing-free-directories-really.html It seems not just free web directory but paid directory as well. I take a few example from the list "bearchives dot com", "elpardes dot com" and "xurt dot com". All site are indexed before since they have good Alexa rank etc.
Great, thanks for providing that, finally someone that is actually willing to put some facts on the screen. However, it seems like you are still missing the point... From that blog he says: So 1.3%, which is a pretty insignificant number, of their top end list (i.e. read that as quality free directories) were de-indexed. That's 1 in 65. And I've just told you that 0 in my list of 100 are de-indexed, which are all free directories as well. So, maybe, do you think, that the guy in the original post crapping on about 50% being de-indexed is looking at a really crappy list of free directories. Which could then lead you to conclude that he is a pretty crappy SEO in the first place? And if he's doing that and people are also seeing the same thing, doesn't that just continue to re-inforce my point about quality over quantity. The same one I've been harping on about for a decade. And at least 3 times in this thread? For me, this isn't news. Google has always considered these low-quality directories to be worthless. They always will. It is why we sit in here day after day telling people to edit their content, create unique designs, create unique meta descriptions and title tags for every single page of their directory, to properly vet submissions, edit descriptions, and categorise correctly. Do you think I keep saying that cos I like hearing myself talk. I'm sick to death of saying it. The first thing anyone should do before starting a directory is realise how much work they are putting themselves in for. Because only the very best survive. All the junk ones that your SEO friend has "just disovered" to be junk, have always been junk. It's why I ignore them.
Sorry ,i did not find the any article on that website. There is also a discussion. And about de- indexed google remove the automatic backlinks websites such as buildmyrank.com
If many pages that were de-indexed from Google were previously linked on un-moderated directories - then, it is great chance that Google will take that directory for crap and de-index it. Be smart, Google is smarter.
