I had previously started a $30 contest for the same, however, there were no entries which quite made the grade, hence upping the prize money and starting again. I need a logo for the website of an organisation dedicated to Francis Hutcheson, called the Francis Hutcheson Institute. He was a philosopher who in the early 1700s was regarded as one of the founding fathers of the Scottish Enlightenment. Read - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Hutcheson_(philosopher) & - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_Enlightenment The logo therefore should be something appropriately serious and reflect the importance of the Francis Hutcheson Institute. We're looking for a heraldic shield with a three loop scroll at the bottom, with Francis Hutcheson Institute spaced out as one word per loop. perhaps a golden bursting sun (as on Argentine flag), azure background (i.e. clear sky) and some kind of scientific symbols e.g. of books, scientific instruments. Perhaps one could quarter the shield. Also, something that has a Georgian 18th century feel to it, italic or copper plate lettering. The logo will eventually be going onto a parchment style background so please keep that in mind. examples: http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1259890 http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1232331 http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1232326 points to remember are science, symmetry, proportion, harmony. I'll give plenty of feedback when suggestions come in. I'll also hope to have a winner picked and chosen as soon as possible.
These all look very American and glitzy, not really the style we require... Take a look at the Cambridge University's logo, something more in that style is what I think we're looking for http://www.cam.ac.uk/
