50% drop in CTR

I have experienced a 50% drop in CTR in November v/s October. I have had a long standing website with a pretty steady CTR which has suddenly dropped. I don't think it is Ad blindness because why not 6 months ago, last year, or two years ago?

I did add mobile ads which have a horrible CTR (and horrible pay out) but isn't that CTR separate from the regular ads? Any other long standing sites seeing this drop?

i'm not seeing any big changes.. You should check to make sure it's YOUR code/PUBid on all of your ads.. Also, take a look at what ads are displaying to make sure they are relevant to your content.. if they arent, you might try filtering a few of the offenders.

i'm not seeing any change in CTR either but earned 30% more in October compared to September with about 10% increase in overall traffic :D so far in November looks about the same as last month

percentage do not really tell the actual status. Please provide the traffic information as well.
For low traffic website, 50% is normal (eg. 1000 traffic get 2 click previously and now get 1click).
However, if you traffic is 1000 per day, then you shall go back to your content

Theres no change for me.. Only the number of clicks increased because of increased traffic.

I have checked almost all my codes and it is my pubid. I have never really had a problem with ads matching content that I can tell. I have been pretty steady at 300K or 400K page views a month on my forums and the CTR never fluctuated more than 1/10 of one percent through September.

Then in October it did go up 1/2 a percent which is great news but totally unexpected. I could not really figure out what caused the increase. Now in November the opposite has happened. I am down a 1/2 of one percent. Strange, two months of huge fluctuations for my forum.

That is why I was wondering if this mobile ad crap I started this month with the horrible CTR is somehow pulling down my entire CTR, even though regular ads and mobile ads appear to be separate?

Then I wonder if my CTR stays this low will Google start downgrading me to make it even worse

Actually I feel that the biggest problem is not now, but in the coming months....Google is NOT recession proof, that's for sure. Anybody knows what will happen?

And if a decline in advertising happens, you will see more PSA type of ads popping up...that can lead to CTR decline too.

    It's all related. :(

If I were you, I would stop the guessing game and remove whatever the mobile ad crap which you said was added to your site. All you need is a week to find out if it is really the cause of your low CTR.

Maybe I will. November so far 15,000 impressions 17 clicks for a huge pay out of less than a dollar on mobile ads... even if they are not pulling down my CTR for regular ads they are almost worthless :D

These mobile ads don't say much for the future of AdSense as more and more people surf mobile
