i think unique article marketing are good.

I think it depends on niche you working on. Some niches better to have more backlinks quality of which is unnecessary other niches better to have low amount of unique articles links.
The best way is to check backlinks of top sites in your niche.

That's a pretty good list, but I'm not sure about the quality of the page the articles are on. They're full of ads and who knows what else. What's the benefit of having an article placed on one of these sites over an article placed on a site where it's the main thing on the page. So you have to pay a couple of bucks, but if the site is set up to really showcase your article for the reader as well as the SE Bots isn't it worth it? I mean, how many of the sites on that list include your article title in the page title and let you create a keyword string for the page? Or give you a byline link, allow three links in the article itself, and then give you another external or "footer" link to boot? All on a page that has NO advertising and social media "share this" links for each article.

I would say unique articles are much better. I do article marketing for my clients and the best way to promote their sites is to write good and unique articles and submit them to the main Spanish article directories. You can also paraphrase your articles, change the titles, etc., but you should keep the quality of the content at a high level. This is really important.
