Due to the loss of the Digital Point database from the previous in-process contest, we are restarting today. If anyone who participated could please re-post (or send their artwok in a private message), it would be much appreciated! New entries are welcome as well. This contest will run until June 10th. ****************************************************************************************************** The Global Game Jam is an event that brings people together on the same weekend in different countries all over the world to make games. We are a new 501c3 (non-profit) looking for a new logo and brand image to represent our annual 48-hour marathon, so are looking to the arts and graphics community for their creative input. This year (2013) had over 16,000 participants come together and make over 3,200 games in one weekend. Our community makes primarily videogames, but also creates board games, card games and games to create positive social impact. We are open source; hardware- and software-agnostic and all games are posted under a Creative Commons license. The logo we are looking for should: • Be professional but creative and energetic • Be recognizable branding – please no cliché game controllers or wii -motes • Embrace our motto of “Collaboration, experimentation, and innovation” • Work for different outlets – t-shirts, badges, posters, ribbons, etc… • Be able to be modified or localized • Be the basis for our future website redesign. We are looking for an icon to represent the global feeling of the event – the words Global Game Jam should appear in the logo. We would also like a version with just our initials “GGJ” to be easily swapped out as opposed to the whole name of the organization. No preference on colors or font, but we must be able to have access to the font. The logo must be clean and easy – ideally vector graphic. See http://globalgamejam.org for more information. Submissions must be original art, and the winner must give us the right to use the logo on our site. The logo will be licensed along with the rest of our site under a Creative Commons Share Alike Attribution license http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/
Again, thank you to everyone that has been submitting entries. We will continue to accept entries through the end of today, June 10th (in whatever time zone continues to be June 10th). The decision on winner will be made later this week, thanks!
Hiya, sorry for the delay, we are still reviewing the entries. There were many entries, and we have narrowed them down to a list of finalists, but haven't decided on a winner yet. I hope that we can make a decision this week, I'll keep you posted...
One question for the community, since I haven't run this kind of contest before... Would you prefer to just see/hear the winner, or would you like us to sort all the entries by our favorites, or see feedback on each entry, or read a report on the entire deliberation process, or what would you most like to see?
most people do prefer to see the winner's entry. some might prefer to see the favorites but from all the ones ive seen, no one really requires a report or deliberation process report. that'd be too much stress on the CH anyways. but for the sake of next time, i think "feedback on each entry" would be better served if given before the contest is over, that way everyone can improve the quality of the entries that the CH recieves
We have narrowed the list of finalists and asked for some revisions via private message. Still awaiting changes.
