$50 Book Cover Design Contest

Title of the book is: Dinner on Ice
Subtitle: Easy family meals to make now and eat later.
All this needs to be on the cover.

Hints: this book is for families looking to save time and money by making freezer meals that taste good. It needs to be clean, professional, eye catching.

Colors: Be creative. There are lots of colors to pull from in the necklace Jenny is wearing. Dark purple shirt, red food, dark blue jeans. I can email you a picture with more white space if needed.

Prize:
50$ to the design winner.

Last but not least, I reserve the right not to choose any winners if none of the entries meets my criteria, but most likely, this won't happen. I am very interested in getting this book cover finished.

The size is a half sheet of paper. 7.5 by 4 inches The cover will go on a spiral bound cook book. Deadline is Monday January 26th, 8pm Mountain Standard Time.

 

Hi ajandersen,

Using all of the guidelines that you have set, here is what I have come up with. I used purple as it goes with the model's top, and I chose to use a nice clean font as I think this works best.

If there is anything else that you would like added or any changes, please let me know.

You are right. I just took a guess, but 4.25 by 5.5 is correct.

 

I was hoping the focus would be on the model, not on the title. The blue background competes with the model.

 

The ice back ground is cool. I do like the subtitle font, but I don't like the font used for the main title. It competes with the model too much. Try a different color as well on the font? Also please include the authors name on the cover: Betty Strangir

 

One of my favorites. Nice work. I don't like the blue swirl to go on top of the hand. Is there a way to make it go behind? I'm also wondering if you can try a color that blends a little more with the model...maybe dark blue? A shade of green that matches the necklace or the models eyes? Something that blends better. Very nice. I like this. Lets try a softer font, and diff. colors. Black and red seems to compete with the model rather then blend. Also insert the authors name on the cover: Betty Strangir.

I don't like the font or the back ground. I want it to look more clean, more professional. Please look at the examples posted below of magazine covers...food network star cook books.
