$50 banner contest- Be quick- only a 2 day contest

It's the second time you do such a thing.
Atleast if you said that it should be over 150 kb , I would've not waste 2 hours just adding those effects.

And what's up with your decision? I am really sorry but it's the 2nd that you chose something that is far from being the best header here, Atleast if you chose DesignX header I would've understand.

Even though it looks like "whining" I believe that many people will agree with me.

I'm at school right npw (I wouldn't usually log in), but I was so infuriated by his choice, that I had no choice.

Seriously, mal4's creation looked like it came out of my ass. It's probabl the shittiest gif I've ever seen.. Atleast Wasted put some effort into his.. Some fucking 3 year old could've made that .gif

Being a semi-graphic designer myself, I honestly, and seriously suggest that you drop your choice for mal4's, and choose someone else.. Doesn't have to be Wasted, but anyone else. When I see those shitty gifs, I think "I will NOT do business with a crappy site like this".. Just an opinion, it's your choice.

 

Doesn't matter. Would you rather have a nice banner, but a little big, or a piece of shit, but small file size.

Big file size but attractive > Shitty, horrible, but small file size

As you all know, design is always very subjective.. I know what you feel with CH decisions, i feel same for many times... lol
But, this is contest forum.. let's give respect to CH and to the Winner..
Hey! another great contest await your great design guys!

 

I understand that it's the Person offering the contest that chooses the winner. But the fact that we are the consumers of websites like his, I think he should listen to the opinion we give, and not bias his mindset of the image, just because he is not a graphic designer himself.

Because at the end of the day, what is the most important factor in the image? It needs to look appealing to the consumer, not the owner

 

I think that people are just making multiple accounts and creating contests to advertise their site, or rep / itrade themselves. I've been in the same situation so I can totally relate to how Wasted and Shittywall are feeling. SHAME on you handyman

This is what I meant by saying it's fixed, And this is one of the main reasons that contests here or in any other site can be real annoying, It's like the 20th time that such a thing happens and sometimes the guy doesn't even respond.

I know graphics well and just had to rant about this trash.

Clearly, this was a Chop job to get people to bring out all of these banners for the topic creator to freely take, then get a friend to make something so he doesn't have to fork the cash. That Dudes, banner was styled like an 11yr old schoolgirl made it.

-The text was default
-thought bubble off center (high to low). There's a gap at the bottom, but not the top. Wow........
-It looks cheap, No Border, no effect on the bubble, Sloppy cartoon dude
-Too plain. I understand that banners should not be too agressive, but this is way too plain.
-I'm skeptical to see it on your site considering that you are running a white background as well. Since it has no border or anything to close the image than what you'll see is some dude in the middle of nowhere speaking a random word up on your site.


Let's face it "ultimatehandyman". You didn't want that banner, what you wanted is the other awesome one's that were made and shown here. DoubleJ519's was a bit too pixelated. However the few others who did show theirs were amazing.
Shawnecstacy, Wasted, and designX banners were awesome. Exspecially DesignX's. Not because it looks the coolest but you can tell that this person knows which direction of style to do for the niche. You'd think it came from some RONA billboard or something like that.

This was surely a setup. There's no way you would choose that.


Oh yeah, and to the guys who did enter, you need to make a "offsized copy. Something like 461X53 so that it will be usless to steal.

 

My choice is DesignX .. .. lot 2 learn frm his banner ... not much too graphic ..but yes eye catching , cool animation and loaded with information ...

Is it your money that hes spending? No its his therefore Ultimate can buy any banner he wants. I have no comment on the designs of all of the banners. Good contest Ultimate and good job mal40.

I was not particularly bothered that your banner was large in KB's I was just being polite and thought that sounded better then saying your banner was rubbish.

Not true, why would I want to advertise my site on here and pay $50 for the privelege when I get over 500,000 hits per month anyway! I wanted a banner not a load of grief from people with nothing better to do!

I really cannot believe some of these replies!

In the past my competitions have always been easy and I do find it hard to choose a winner. I have two more competitions running on here now and they end in a few days. When these competitions end there will be no more competitions on here due to the unfriendlyness of some of the posters that seem to try and make me out to be a cheat and a liar!

 

I haven't lowered myself to anything. I swear naturally, so.. ?

Probably because:

- I have been a member here, I know how the contests work
- I am a graphic designer myself
- I own my own site
- Never in my time here have I seen such a bullshit contest. I felt that it was my obligation to back up the people who actually tried and put effort into theirs

It sickens me when some douche with no experience takes advantage of people like you. I am giving you advice that when I see shitty Animated .GIFs with stupid captions, colors, etc... I think: Ugh, what a low class site, I will not do business with them.

 

Look guys, i know you are mad, it happened too me many times but i can't say anything to the contest holder, it's his money he can do whatever he wants. If he like that banner he'll buy it .
