$50 Adwords credit-- Wanna try PPC with Clickbank

I have a $50 Adwords credit that I haven't used. I was thinking maybe this would be a good way to try out PPC with Clickbank. The risk is almost zero considering the only real cost is $5 to activate my Adwords account. The offer expires at the end of the year so I may as well use it.

From what I have read so far, many Clickbank products convert at or around 1.5%. So, with $50 at $.05 per click I should get 1000 clicks. If my product pays $20 I should make $300 at a 1.5% conversion rate. I understand these figures could be way off, but it helps me keep things organized.

Any advice before I try this out? I would like to update this thread with my results. Thanks everyone.

Its a great idea.Frankly speaking I never thought about spending adwords credit in this way.But I thing with such low PPC of $0.05 per click you might not top the results in searches.Tell us if you are successful,I might also try this idea.

Well, I do need to learn more about Adwords and keyword bidding first. So the higher I bid the more likely my ads will be placed? Is that correct? I was reading that using long-tail keywords I might be able to receive higher placement due to lower competition. Does that sound right? I have plenty of research to do first.

Depending on what niche you're targeting, a $.05 bid won't even get your ad shown at all.

And yes, the higher you bid, the better position your ad will receive.

And you do want to target long-tail keywords because you're more likely to see less competition when bidding for them.

Thanks Brad. Makes sense. So im guessing there has to be a trade off when using longtail keywords. For example, when using high search volume keywords youll have to bid higher but will receive more exposure and when using long tail keywords youll pay less but less search volume. I suppose youll still only pay for the clicks you receive though.

Obviously the first thing I need to do is choose a product. Im really not sure how to go about this. I have spotted some products I like but I have reservations about all of them.

Ive read that to high gravity means too much competition. I can understand this concept since gravity simply means that affiliates have made sales. It seems it might be too difficult to get ad exposure with higher gravity products. Maybe the long tail keywords will help with this problem.

Then I see all of these posts promoting products to new affliliates so of which look pretty decent.

    Any tips here?

I do have some decent domains laying around I could build off of like:

    the*unemployment*rate.com
    tune*a*guitar.com
    strong*weight*loss.com

I dont know... just want to promote a good product that converts.

Sounds great! Problem is it doesn't usually work like that. You will probably pay way more per click and make next to nothing. It's not to say its impossible but for a newbie this would be almost impossible. If everyone could turn $50 into self employment kind of money then everyone would do it.
I would say $50 on Adwords is like a penny in the real world. Meaning it is going to disappear on you quick. Good luck though. Do your keyword Research very carefully and you have a shot.

Im not trying to turn $50 into self employment. Im trying to use a free Adwords credit to learn a little about PPC with Clickbank. I know keywords will be important in pulling anything at all out of this. Probably gonna target longer, lower competition keywords to make the most of it.

Seems to me that you really have nothing to lose by having a go.

I haven't done anything with Clickbank (I signed up agaes ago but have been too busy to get stuck in with it) so I am following this thread with interest.

Sorry I can't offer any advice, but hope you don't mind me lurking and seeing how you get on.

Please let us know what happens.

Please have a go with Regace (below). PM me and I will give you some tips. Not on PPC per-se but on good landing pages that convert. :)

Hops per order average for last 2 weeks across all affiliates (bad + good) is 45. Average earnings per hop = $0.39.

You hit the nail on the heading talking about targetting longer tail keywords. Your stats seem about right, however the $300 might be abut out of reach. Definately easy to turn $50 into profit though!

Happy to help you further if you need :)
