I just think the logic is there that new people who want an internet site could be sold on the domain 123sites.com to start a new site. It just seems perfect for the hosting and domain industry. It passes the radio test very well. 50k is definitely steep but if this domain was yours...how much would you sell it for? $50? I think not.

    Labrocca,

i would be generous and pay 40$ per year he had the domain registered thats about it. IF I had a business idea around that name I may pay low to mid $x,xxx.

    cheers

It seems you have some experience in this so I thought I would ask.

What would you think a site with a PR5, alexa 25K, 35K uniques per month and around 50K in backlinks would be worth?

It made about 2K per month last year.

I had an offer to buy from a marketing company for 25K and they would honor the rest of the contract terms with current advertisers for the 8 months left putting the total value close to 50K (with what was made that year) and I didn't think it was nearly enough.

I actually agree that reseller price of $xxx is fair and $xxxx for end-user. I just don't think the name is as bad as some have stated. Sure he is asking for a lot but people new to the forums rarely take the time to read what's going on here before putting their foot in mouth.

I would be willing to pay a ton for digitalpoint because... welll it has CONTENT. http://123sites.com/ has nothing. Why would I pay any more for 123sites.com than what I think the domain is worth.. which is no more than $1000.

If your selling 123sites.com for 50,000 what do you think electricshort.com can pull down? And would you be interested?

Gotta agree with you man, sooo many of these domain sales threads turn into appraisal threads or what members feel is the percieved value of a domain name. Let the seller ask what the hell they want, if they ask too much know one will bite and they'll get the picture.

Wow, I have to stop being so suprised when I see all of you jackasses giving someone an unreasonably hard time.

Regardless how you value the domain, he came to the right forum, made his offer and that was all - and you jackasses proceed to poke fun at him. Does it get your wankers off to poke fun at people on the internet that have done nothing to you?

I'm willing to bet none of you saying its worth less than $50 are professional appraisers or domain name sellers are you? Your opinions on the matter are basically WORTHLESS.

A domain is worth whatever the highest bidder is willing to pay for it at any given time. A domain is a lot like real estate - there's a limited amount and the longer lapse of time the less of it there is. All the best real estates already taken and you have to pay an arm and leg to get it.
