5 weeks in and doing well... any suggestions?

i've had adsense up for about 5 weeks and am up to the mid 2xx. that seems to be fairly decent start. the goal is to get that on a daily average. any suggestions on how to achieve that? www.celebrationsflowers.com

 

Move ads upper on front page and try to use more ads format (you can use up to 3 ads block per page )

 

i tested the link ads and they didn't do anything. the site currently gets about 70,000 page views per month. do you think a search box would be worth the trouble?

 

Hmm, so the site is selling your skills as a flower, er, arranger, etc? If that's the case, have you seen a dip in customer hirings? Because putting those ADsense ads on a site meant to advertise YOUR skills and get YOU hired may be leeching your potential customers to someone else... someone who advertises with Adwords...

Sounds like you got an ideal situation, then. Maybe I shuold get into flower arranging and stuff.

 

actually my step-mom is the flower arranger. i'v been her webmaster for the last 5 years. she agreed to let me put the ads up as long as it doesn't hurt the biz. she's semi-retired already and just does the flower thing to keep busy and make some fun money.

 

It's a nice site. I bet you handcode every page, huh? Looks very clean.

 

are you joking? i'm a hack. i use dreamweaver and borrow lots. thanks for the compliment though. i think i do have an eye for good design, i just don't have the creativity to make new stuff.

Yes you should do something about load time. Is it hosted on your own server or something ? You would probably make more if it loaded faster.

 

Wedding Flowers - ads are in the bottom where visitors can't see them
Wedding directory - this is good. I believe that this has much bigger revenue than the flower site. Have you tested whitch is better ad unit - one in top or one in bottom. Or how much better the top unit is?

 

that's really strange about the load time. i've never had problems. when all things are working it's supposed to load in 2.8 seconds over a 52k line.

 

They must be on 56K because I detected no lag in load time myself. The pictures are high res, correct? That could account for some slow load time if you're on dial up.

 

Not true. The front page is compact and it doesn't take very much to scroll down to see the leaderboard at the bottom. I personally wouldn't change it, because the front page looks professional and clean as is, and too many ads would taint the look IMO.

 

I agree with jack about the frontpage. i don't want it to be overwhelmed with ads. i did switch the ad format in the portfolio page to match that on the frontpage, except it is in the top position. since this page gets the most pageviews i'll see how it goes. it seems to fit better in there.

 

I just checked my log stats and there was a huge spike in traffic just about the time you guys were looking at it.

when you say 2xx do you mean 200 or 2.00 because the lowercase x makes me think 2.00
