    I would say you have to test it and see what works best. Its hard to say where the eye looks first. I put mine center because I figure your eye would look there first or around there. However I could be wrong. Test different locations and see how much traffic you get.

    Not really. You can always report that type of thing. I just wouldn't spam links everywhere but having it in your signature should be fine.
