That is totally correct. You cannot target your message in you signature to something that is completely irrelevant to the topics in the forums. I've tried it before and it doesn't work. I've tried to put in links about Dating sites, DUI sites, etc and they just don't work. You need to put in links to sites that interest people because they have to do with the topic they are reading about. This is why people are here at DP in the first place.

Yes I guess I do. But the point was to teach others how to get traffic to from their signatures. My intent wasn't to generate traffic to my signature but that is just a benefit.

You cannot create a signature yet because you haven't done 10 posts at DP yet. Once you are there and you still have a green status you can create a signature following the rules of DP.

Your welcome. If you aren't getting a lot of traffic to your website from DP and you contribute a lot to DP then yes you need to update the keywords in your signature. You need to play with them a whole bunch until you find the right keywords that bring in the traffic.

Your right. Thats why you can't pass up the traffic. If you are spending the time in the forum you should think about optimizing your signature.

 

Very good post, signatures aren't just there for building backlinks. They can be a very good referral traffic tool too if you make them attractive as you have. Even though you don't have a massive amount of posts here I too have clicked on your signature links before.

 

1) Make a url shorten for your signature links. These url shorten always come with a click statistic .
this will help you keep an eye on your signature clicks.
2) Start helpful thread and share useful experiences .
3) Writing "Don't click me" rather than "click me" .

 

I haven't received any clicks to my sites from here lol!!
