Most of the people find sponsoring a wordpress theme to get quick and cheap backlinks out there. But in fact if certain things arent checked or you dont seem to be interested then you might be wasting your money for nothing rather than of what you think is you are getting backlinks.. Here are 5 things to notice before sponsoring your wordpress theme.. Quality & Niche / Pricing First Off make sure you like the theme.. Not just you but the theme should be good enough to attract a large group of users to download. Sponsor those themes that match the niche of your website so that your baclinks count. Most of you dont know but all the backlinks from a websites of different niches than yours dont count in google. Dont just buy a link because you get it for 5$. You will waste your 5$ if you theme is never downloaded and used... Number Of Sponsored Links The second thing is how many sponsored links are there on the theme. The less the sponsors the more your the downloads. So I suggest you to opt for those templates where there are 3 or less sponsors. Submission This is the third factor that affect how much downloads or links is where your theme is submitted. If the theme is good peop[le automatically download it but still everything needs promotion. So basically if you theme is listed on major sites like wpthemesfree etc.. then there are more chances of publicity and downloads Licence This is also an important factor to measure. Well nowadays I see people dont mind linking back etc as compared to previous years when copyrights infringment was high. Like for example people used to rip free themes etc.. So no lisence is also playing an important part. Make sure the theme work is unique and licensed.. Dont sponsor GNU licensed themes, GNU means no linkback necessary, i suggest you to sponsor themes with Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs Lisence means, users can share this theme but cannot build upon it and must linkback. Encryption This doesnt matter whether the theme is encrypted or not. Every problem has a solution to it. So every theme can be decrypted, if you cant i can teach you that. Apart from that wordpress.mu provides a free service on how to decrypt footer.. SO the thing is if your theme is good, unique and licensed then sit back and relax.. 90% people will not rip it., there are 10% losers however when they create something by themselves they will understand how it feels when someone rips your work.. By the way I have a good offer for you, so if you are looking for sponsoring some themes, check this combo offer http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=937463 This article is copyrighted to Mohd Ameenuddin. i think using an encrypted footer is better than using one without encryption. yes, there are utilities that will decrypt the encryption, but average users would not know that. you increase your chance of having more links if the footer is encrypted.
