Who said commenting on dofollow blogs is the only thing to do. You should comment on as many blogs as possible to get some backlinks.

The Pillar (or best) should be your article that will bring most of the visitors on your blog- Atleast 500 word and you have to give YOUR best doing it.
Another way to get good traffic to your blog is thru Craigslist. Placing a classified advertisement here is effortless. An ad can give you hundreds of highly targeted audience to your blog. Place images and attractive description on your ads and you can maximize the effect.
1. Remind yourself about why you are doing this stuff, and decide exactly what you want 2. Read for example this thread about promotion and pick 1 tactics from that post 3. Start working on that tactic and repeat steps 1-3 4th and 5th steps not needed...
