    1. Picking the niche of your blog
You should always try to pick more detailed niches, it may be harder to find content / find topics to write about, although once you have a good idea of what your going to write, you’ll find getting high rankings in Google and other search websites much easier due to the lack of other websites in the niche. For example if you went from a niche on gaming, prehaps you should go into a consol, say the xbox 360, then prehaps pick a genre of games, such as racing games, then your niche would be xbox 360 racing gaming. Which currently has 24,100,000 results in Google, compared to just ‘games’ which has 1,270,000,000, or ‘xbox 360′ which has 189,000,000.

The article has some good information. But, (and I posted this as a comment on your blog) people should only pick a topic that they are really interested in.

Do not pick a blog about racing just because a new game was released for the 360. Pick a topic that really interest you. And picking a certain genre of a non-interesting topic is a sure path to closing your blog. Your going to lose interest sooner or later.

I see a lot of people that talk about different blog topics and how to pick them. But few people are discussing "why" a blog topic should be picked.

My opinion - you should only start a blog on a topic that has affected your life in some way or another. NEVER pick a "hot topic" - unless you want to make a quick buck. But if you in this for the long haul, then pick some kind of life changing topic that has affected you in some manner. Some examples of this are - cancer, HIV, adoption, depression, lose of a family member,,,,,,, But pick a topic that has changed your life in one way or another.

That is being more specific in choosing your niche.Find something which is in demand or almost heard in the market.

I don't agree with that. At the end of the day (and even at the beginning) online marketing is a business.

Conducting business and ensuring your business is profitable isn't always interesting or fun. If it was, everyone would do it.

I have well over 100 websites to date and almost none of them are related to topics that interest me. But almost all of them are profitable. Some very much so.

Yes, it's important to focus on what you love doing. I love marketing online. But I don't love every single aspect of and neither will any one about anything.

Not trying to jump down your throat so don't take my post as being mean, but I really think it's bad advice to tell someone that wants to know how to make a profit to stick only to things they are interested in. Especially if you have no idea what his/her interests are.
