Here's a couple research questions for you net detectives. The first to answer them and provide links or references to qualify your answers gets $5 via PayPal sent to them. 1. The Columbian Magazine was founded by Mathew Carey (and others) in 1786 and ran until 1792. It was again in publication in the 1800's. What were the publication years after 1792 and by whom? 2. The Columbian Magazine published William Shakespeare's play, The Tempest in the 1800s. Which edition (month/year) did it appear? PM your answers. Good luck!
That's why I'm posting here. I easily found out 18th century Columbian Magazine history but nothing on 19th century records. I know The Tempest was published by them somewhere in the mid-1800's but other than some references to Poe stories (he was very popular then) I came up empty. This is strictly web searching so I'm hoping someone has access to hard copy data. That's all the clues I can give.
Well I have the answer to question #1 completed, however I think you might be mistaken about question #2. I've searched through all of the Columbian Magazine copies from the 1800s and they talk about The Tempest in them, but there is no republication of The Tempest. Will the findings for question #1 justify the $5?
