    Not sure whether you were responding to me.

    I am trying to link in order to get traffic to my site. I want people to see it and be aware of it.

    Obviously a good pagerank will be brilliant but traffic is my main priority as I am just starting out.

    you should pick a website matches with your site content
    Example
    don't link a sport site with forex site

    Pagerank is important too along with traffic. If you want a good pagerank then you must get backlinks from high PR sites.
