http://money.cnn.com/2005/09/21/news/economy/rita_threat/index.htm $5/gallon gas in U.S. possibly by next week...
It fell back under a dollar (99.9 ) today, here (that's about $3.20 USD). It was 95 cents two days ago, $1.07 yesterday.
As I am about to launch a site about gas prices, I have done a lot of research on this crap. All I can say is dont be surprised it it gets much worse in the next few weeks.
It's currently hovering at $6.77 USD per gallon here in the UK. £0.99 ($1.79) per Litre. My calculations are probably wrong a little, though. UK/American litres/gallons n'all. Pete
At $3.05 it just cost me $65.00 to fill up. At $5.00 that puts it just over $100.00 to fill up. Oh well......
I just gassed up and tried to buy five gallon jugs of water. There were none. Talked to my neighbor. Her family in Houston is evacuaing for first time ever. Eminent birth of family member caused the evacuation. Mother to be has gone into labor on road. Shannon
I see it is now the 5th most intense hurricane ever in the Atlantic Basin, and still has room to grow. It sounds like there is a good chance it could equal Katrina. That is insane. I hope that maybe it will start weakening before it makes landfall.
Not here in Phoenix.. where the city is spread out over 100's of square miles and there is ZERO mass transit system... taking the only public transit (the city bus) accross the city would literally take 2-3 hours and can't accomodate a large scale number of people. Basically if gas becomes unaffordable we're screwed.. we have no alternative to our cars. And out here the life expectancy on a motorcycle is 90 days or less. Lucky for me... if worst comes to worst I can work from home at least.
Imagine how bad the people that evacuated from Katrina to Houston feel now. I mean that's horrible having to evacuate from 2 hurricanes in such a short period.
Not to be disrespectful or insensitive in any way... but if you live next to the ocean (anywhere) you should expect and be prepared for the worst (storms, waves, etc)... it's one of the prices you have to pay to live next to the beautiful oceans...
Imagine how shitty we all are talking about gas prices when most of the Hurricane victim's have lost everything.
i agree, the gas prices are nothing compared to what people have gone through. sad thing is, this is just the beginning of these hurricanes, pretty scary. i'm thinking i should start out renting camping sites in my backyard?
How do we complain about anything when places in Africa 1 of 4 people has AIDS? Or millions are slaughtered and/or starved every year by rebels and wars... it's not the same unless it directly effects you personally.
well, even broader we can go with our soldiers in war, but homeland hits the hardest, i didn't mean to be insensitive about world issues
