Hello, I have this strange problem that I rank #5 or #6 for option trading (www.1stmoneyopportunities.com) but do only get 4-5 clicks per day from it. now, this is too strange for me, I have no clue why this is so. the keyword suggestion tool from adwords shows an "average" search volume for this keyword which means middle to high traffic. when the keyword suggestion tool of overture was still active it showed about 100k impressions per month. and that on yahoo!!! come on ultra SEO experts, what is going on here???
Here's my two cents. 1) Your site is geared more towards providing 'information'. 2) Your templates REALLY need changes for adsense clicks. If you are getting traffic, you SHOULD be getting SALES. So, are you?
You need to optimize your website more. Try to generate more keywords so that you can generate more traffic. More traffic means more percentage chances of having more clicks per day. Use a tracking tool to determine how many traffic per day and which keywords are you most effective.
my dear friend, that is why I post here, I don't understand why I only get 5 clicks per day! Traffic is my concern, sales is the other problem. I want to know why 5 clicks for such a great SERP for such a great keyword. i already have google analytics activated, thats why I know my 5 clicks per day
You guys even reading what he is saying? or posting replies without understanding what he is asking for? 3 of you given him advice on adsense/affiliates which he is not asking for. His question is: With such a competitive high traffic keyword "option trading", why he is not getting traffic from google. Hope its clear for everyone. I just did a quick analysis on that keyword, i would say its not even high traffic keyword. should be getting about 50 odd searches per day. If you are getting 5 of them, i would say they are fair enuff. 1,2 and 3rd listing is eating up 80% of clicks and of course google ads on top. The rest comes to you. Again, one very important thing you website url doesnt hint towards option trading. Hope that helps. Try ranking for more specific high traffic keywords. If you need professional help, contact me.
I think, If you need to get a #1 ranking, on your main keywords and secondary keywords. Try to optimize for all the possible keywords. Thus ultimately ranking is increase for more keywords and you get a more traffic.
thanks godmode for understanding my problem. . that is interesting. where did you get those numbers from. I would like to do some analysis too. I really ask myself if this keyword only brings 50 searches per day why does googe adwords keyword tool show this as an "average" volume keyword which is generally a high volume keyword??? There you can see, dont trust this damn tool. Its useless at least in terms of assessing traffic volume.
well, thats what I dont understand, contradictory things on adwords tool and the other tool used by godmode
godmode has made a great post jophan, take a look at the title and description listed in Google in the SERP page. If you are looking for Option Trading information, which are the top three sites will you click? Honestly for me, your site is not in the top three list of mine.. There are only two way you can improve your CTR from Google SERP to your site. One - Increase your rankings to top three. Two - Change your title and description so that it will bait more curious traffic (be warned, this method may take you out of 1st page totally..).
Wordtracker estimate for google alone somewhere 140 daily. with that many daily search I would say it is indeed a high traffic keyword. and I think why you are not getting much click is because the top site already satisfy the searcher's need. so I think you have to get to top 3 to have some good traffic. and that mean more backlink and more time.
I hope my answers satisfy you. First of all, you must keep in mind that above natural listings, there will be always 2-3 advertisers so you are not in the 6th position but 9th position. So even if you are on the first position, you won't get all the traffic. Second, this keyword is overrated. "Option trading" is not a great keyword. Don't check it via crap keyword suggestion tools but check it with google trends. One of my sites ranked first for a fairly competitive keyword. I get around 220 visitors per day from this keyword alone in Google (except in Friday-Sunday, I only get around 140 per day during weekend). I compared this keyword to "option trading" in Google trends and I think your keyword has much less traffic than my keyword. I predict even if you get the first rank, you won't be able to get more than 150 unique visitors per day. Hope this help. For me, adword suggestion tool is important for "sketching". But to compare traffic, I prefer to use Google Trends. I don't like keyword suggestion tools like wordtracker or keyword discovery because they are not accurate. Not even close.
you hit the point. thats it. those keyword tools are to my mind just plain crap when it comes to gauge the number of searches.
Totally agree with the assumption of limited usability. The volumes are often inaccurate but are good for finding general phrases. We actually blew quite a bit of money staying at the top for promo items back in December and despite the busy season the numbers didn't correlate well in terms of impressions with what we expected in total searches for promo items. I think we never really know what goes into the keyword ranking either. In case of the term above I think it included all similar terms which we excluded but which has to be taken into consideration. The best we can tell if you really want to know how the term will rank make a middle bid on it (first page) and see how many impressions you get. Really that's probably the only reliable way for your particular set of keywords and all the derivations. As others have said it's real tough to compete on the bigger keywords. During the holidays one of the businesses paying to stay at the top was dropping $6 per click to make back $5 when all was said and done. The search volume was great, the return overall poor.
Never go straight for a high-competitive keyword. Example, if you go for weight loss, start with weight loss stories etc.
check http://www.google.com/trends to see what kind of traffic you should receive. I've had a similar problem....
