I have 5 domains pointing to my blogger blog. I get backlinks for all of them but I am wondering if it would be better to point all the backlinks towards one domain name and have one with a ton of backlinks or is it better to have 5 domains with lower but an even amount of backlinks. My main concern is traffic. Thanks for any advice
I've experimented with that too.. I have a php link directory site and at one point I had like 10 quality domains pointing to it. I've found over time that the site indexed better with just the one domain so I focused my efforts marketing it. I think it becomes more of a branding issue. So I've gone back to the one domain and life is better. hope this helps.
Well if you are building back links for 5 domains, you are building backlinks for the main domain and 4 competitors. You are just taking backlinks from yourself. The more backlinks a site has the higher they rank. Lets say you have a site that needs 100 good links to rank #1 (just a random number) If you are giving 100 to each domain you need 500 links If you want #1 for just your main domain all you need is 100 links Now if you still build the 500 links you then have a 400-link lead over #2 And with 500 links your PR (if you care about it) will be much higher.
that really depends on whether you are trying to make all 5 domains popular slowly and want then to come up in SERP ot just one domain popular rather fast. if you want one domain to have more backlinks and come up in SERP faster, then point all to one site
I would focus on my one site and get as many links to that. Your wasting your time if the only purpose of the other sites is to link to the one site.
