5 Day Website Redesign Contest - $75

Hey everyone. Take a look at lobstergirlcomics dot com. I know, I know ... it is awful. I like the rollovers but other than that I need the whole site scrapped. This contest is to see who can design the best website for this comic book that is coming out in August. It hasn't hit stores yet and it is already one of the biggest Independent comic books of the year (based on diamond ordering code numbers). There will be a $75 first prize on this contest as well as a $25 second prize to the runner up. This will be a basic HTML page ... I just need a killer design!

SPECIAL EDIT: WILL PAY $125 FOR CODED WEBSITE! (THANKS TO SWAYMEDIA FOR THE TIP)

Be as creative as possible but I want to keep with the dark tones of the comic book (it is about a stripper with lobster claws who is being pursued by a blind albino killer).

Payment will be made via paypal ... if this is not acceptable let me know what payment method you need and I will see what I can do.

Contest ends Wednesday at noon PST

    are you shitting me?

What the hell will they think of next?

OK, i'm in I think .. lol .. will post in a few days.

What do you intend to run this design on? Just a standard webpage that you will update or some sort of CMS?

Hey Spyral nice design. Would this use the same rollovers as on the existing site?

    Hi,

    Ok, here you go.
This is a low quality jpeg.
I post this on condition that if it is the winning submission, a link is left in the design to my website.

    Hope you like.

    Thanks.

DJ-Iceman ... cool design but I need something more. That looks like a template and I want something dark to fit the overall tone of the book.

Kazooki I like the design because it looks like a book with the way the links are set up. I don't want it to look just like the existing comic book though. Can you darken it up?

    Can I darken it up?
    You mean darken the background?

    Please advise! Any examples?

Here it is again, but darker backgrounds and menu.

I think you should ask a broad audience what they think, pass all the images onto your friends and get a second opinion. I know your the grand prize master and your always right when it comes to any decision, but please don't allow your own personal judgement to cloud any final decision, after all, it's not you thats going to be looking at it, it's (hopefully) thousands of other people, and if you don't get it right, if it looks like a dogs dinner, they will click off instantly.

Please don't think i'm telling you how to suck eggs, I just want you and all your visitors to be happy with what they see.

    :)

Also, the Dakuwaka logo could be replaced with whatever logo you have that wins the other compo.

Kazooki - it is a great design. You got it right the second time with the darker look of the page. Unfortunately the decision isn't just mine I am working with both the author and Dakuwaka and the feedback was "darker". The second design is awesome. don't change a thing!

    retzseo - great design .... don't change a thing!

    OK, cool.

Thanks for the feedback and thanks for posting this comp. It was fun to create something out of the ordinary for a change, instead of the everyday run of the mill corporate stuff.

Didn't know this was for THE actual website. Thought you where just an obsessed fan .. lol ..

Oh Yeah guess I should have been more clear. I am actually working with the company on this. Nobody has ever actually met the author but I get short cryptic emails from him which tell me what he wants or doesn't want. Thanks for getting your design up so quickly!
