Ok well there are tonnes of free ranks out there, and although $5 isn't a lot, the entry's should be good. The ranks should be in stages. I currently have stars (1 star, 2 stars etc..) but these are getting a bit boring. I like these: I got those off another forum so I dont think i would be allowed to use them, but you could base them on that. Max width 180 pixels. also I like the gradient red>yellow>green (or vice versa) but you dont have to use this.
