5 Innocent Bulgarian nurses sentenced to death in Libya. The absurd accusation had the nurses working for the CIA and the Israeli secret service agency Mossad.

The case has been running for years. Five Bulgarian nurses and a doctor stand accused of infecting Libyan children with AIDS in a children's hospital.
............... Nurses working for the CIA?

But Gadhafi wasn't finished. He also arrested Filipino, Polish, Hungarian and Bulgarian clinic workers on suspicion of organizing the spread of the virus; in the end, the court only filed charges against five Bulgarian nurses, a Bulgarian doctor and a Palestinian doctor. Nine Libyan doctors were later set free. The Bulgarians, above all, became the scapegoat in the scandal to be paraded before the public as monsters that had infected Libyan children with AIDS. The absurd accusation had the nurses working for the CIA and the Israeli secret service agency Mossad. The trial nevertheless became a political one. Suspects were forced into confessions, allegedly with the help of electro shocks and wooden clubs. The defense team was denied access to files and investigation results. .............

The court even ignored the testimony of the Italian microbiology professor Vittorio Colizzi and his French colleague Montagnier. Both doctors evaluated more than 200 of the infected children, who were also treated in hospitals in Rome, Geneva and France. They reached the conclusion that the virus likely spread at least half a year before the Bulgarian workers arrived at the clinic -- and had most likely originated with a child previously infected with the HIV virus.

But the experts' opinions were politically uncomfortable for Gadhafi. An admission of guilt by Libya's health care system would have played nicely into the hands of the opposition, which has been growing in strength in the country. Regime critics have long complained about the insufficient health care in their country, where hospitals lack medical equipment and sanitation despite Libya's lucrative oil income.

I spoke once with a guy (Christian) who lived in Libya for some time. He said (I am not exaggerating) "If you park your car in the middle of the desert, and a local muslim comes and hits his car in your parked car it is your fault. You have to pay for his damages." I replied why? He answered: "You are foreigner there, if you were not there he wouldn't have hit his car in yours. That's how they reason."

    Innocent nurses?

they infected 426 children with AIDS. now dont tell me that HIV can spread to this level ina hospital without someone's intention. Did you say that 426 children were doing sex in the hospital ?
This is a major crime in humanity and a court gives hs verdict after listening both sides argument. Dont post one sided picture and try to paint them as innocent.

It was scientifacally proven THE INFECTION SPREAD AT LEAST 6m. Before they arrived at the clinic. Should I believe the Libyan doctors or the Italian ones?

Or may be I should Accept that CIA an Mosad did it to kill muslims?

You have received the typical Islamic brainwashing portion. "The infidels did it to kill all muslims."

You don't even realize how STUPID you sound.

How do you know the nurses infected them "ON PURPOSE". There is prove the infection started before they arived.

BTW your buddy Gadhafi is a proven terrorist on the lose.

"....Libya offered a political deal to free five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor, all on death row, in exchange for the release of a Libyan convicted in the 1988 Pan Am Flight 103 bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland. The nurses and the doctor are charged with deliberately infecting 450 Libyan children with the HIV virus...." http://digg.com/world_news/Libya_offers_release_of_nurses_in_exchange_for_Lockerbie_suspect

"..One basic term for the release of the five nurses and the Palestinian medic called for an intervention by the British government to help release a Libyan man, Mahmoud Said al-Moghrabi, who is serving a life sentence for his part in the Lockerbie massacre....

why to beleive Italy? its not proved that virus was spread before they arrive.
this is just a statment of the lawyer of the guilty party. and every guilty party sayas that they are innocent. That is not a proof.
this was doen in Libya and bein an independednt country they have every right to investigate it and trial it in court.

I have a common sense question for you, I am sorry i am assuming you have it, is it poosible to spread HIV virus to 426 children in an hospital in a short time of period unless some one spread it intentionally?
if not then who did that? The first hand authorties after investigations has founf those nurses and one palestinian doctor as the guilty.

Now how you or I can comment fromsittin ghere that investigation was right or wrong? Libyans were victims and they have the first right to do investigate and trial it.

Here is prove the infection started before the Bulgarian nurses arrived at the clinic.

".................The crisis, like the epidemic itself, began slowly. Dr. Achris Ahmed, who heads the Benghazi HIV Committee, which the government created only last year to address the crisis, told me that the first case of AIDS among the children at the Al Fateh Children's Hospital was diagnosed in June 1997, a year before the Bulgarian nurses even began working at the Libyan hospital. Several months later, doctors diagnosed a second AIDS case. "But we knew little about the virus because there is no HIV in Libya," Dr. Ahmed said, parroting the then-official line.......

After a Libyan magazine published an article about the outbreak, attributing it to poor hygiene in the hospital, people in this city of 800,000--a traditional bastion of resistance to Col. Gadhafi--were outraged........"

YES. That is the point. one case was diagnosed a year back, which can happen any where in the world. It was a normal case. But when those nurses arrived, that virus spread to 426 children....is it normal?
can you bring any other example of HIV virus spread like this? No it was a criminal activty.
    Thanks for proving my point.

This type of reasoning is used everyday on DP

If UK forces wasn't in Iraq they wouldn't of been taken hostage by Iran

If the USA wasn't in Iraq terrorists wouldn't be killing people

    It's just a backward way of thinking;

I'm just waiting for a DP nutter coming on DP saying; If you had not have posted that post i wouldn't of read it & i would of left home 5 minutes earlier, then i would never have got hit by the car, thanks to you i had spent 3 days in hospital:D
