i heard that by placing a single ad at the top left corner brings in good $$, just 1 ad though, if you put more, this will devaluate the cost/clicks

I think i have read something more in a book i read about adsense. It stays that you should place ads near your contents, place a pic(might be yours or something pointing to adsense articles. I mean it was a blackhat edition of adsense and the tips were good but other than the ad placement there was nothing good in it.
The tips provided are whitehat and they are used by most of top blogger. Also blogger like darren rowse, yaro make use of 350x200 banner on sidebar.
